I was called nuts for purchasing a Geforce 256 instead of a voodoo card ,called nuts for thinking GeForce3 & Dx8 would revolutionize gaming, called nuts for thinking thatmost games would use DX8 instead of DX9 (when DX9 was new) because of XBOX being L.C.D., called nuts for purchasing a GeForce FX, called nuts for saying the athlon was a superior x86 processor than anything intel had at the time, I was nuts for thinking the nForce1 was grat motherboard technology etc etc...

I find I can happily live with being called by nuts by my critics -- history is on my side, not theirs...

You didn't answer my question.

Then why didn't Nvidia just buyout ATI? If Nvidia is as unstoppable as you make them out to be, why didn't they put up the dough and use their superior managing skills to purchase their closest competitor?

Not my fault they don't turn up here and my banning (through embarrassing Baumann one time too many) has got nothing to do with what they did or didn't say - anyone can search the forums and see for themselves.

B3D was and still is one giant ATi focus group - and we all know who headed the focus group up...

By that logic I could say that Nvidia's staff has lied their arses off at every opportunity because of Rollo. If you're going to base the workforce of ATI off of a focus group, the same could be done with Rollo's posting and AEG.

That's just another key example of how similar both companies really are. Just like your attempt at bringing us news about some ATI lawsuite that Nvidia is guilty of as well. There isn't much of a difference between the two vendors. Yes, there are pros and cons for each, but as far as their products go you're going to have nice benefits for whichever one you choose.

I fail to see how any of the important engineers playing major roles in the development of ATI's GPU cores are liars. I think you're only knowledge of ATI's employees is the PR team or at least a small portion of it and they're not responsible for making the products that gives ATI such supporters.

I just get the feeling like you think it's ATI's core engineers' fault for making such great products that in turn create a devoted fanbase. If they do their job well and make a great product, you think they're trash because it makes such "fanatical" fans. If they do their job poorly, you think their trash because they didn't provide a good enough product.

Except that Rollo never worked for nvidia, whereas sireric, humus, opengl guy etc most assuredly DO (did) work for ATi

I don't actually know if it was an engineer who said that. In response to one of Rollo's PM's a long while back I asked if he would put an email of mine that went unanswered under nvidia's nose for me (i've linked a copy of all this in these forums previously). Rollo replied back that he was told it wasn't possible to get T:AA working on nv4x. He never specified who told him that though.

Since Rollo had inside connections it was either:

A) An Nvidia PR team member.

B) An Nvidia Engineer.

Either way you still have the same thing: "engineers and other staff lying their arses off", even in Nvidia.

He was an outsider who had an insider friend who got him into AEG.

:laugh: No matter how much you try to tread off somewhere else the fact remains that Nvidia and ATi are more alike than you want to believe.

Both companies get into lawsuites, both have employees who have lied in the past, and both have their fair share of fanboys. "G" stands for "Get over it."

I actually think that is what he is going for. Believe it or not. A lot of people on this forum seem to go over the top to get some attention, or "noteriety". Especially if they are banned from another forum. There was a sudden change in Gstanfor in the past month or so. Something traumatic happened to him obviously. This is his way of acting out. Most people who act out break furniture or punch walls or cut themselves. Instead, he uses this forum to act out and it's just not enough. He needs to get out. Get a second job. Spend less time at home.
