You are correct about distilled water.

AS for "enough" salts in the eater, all you need is a "path" for the elctricity to take and you're screwed.

I was going to order this and the LED/Laser pen, but they wont ship to an alternate address. Since I am at college for a while, they wont be getting my business anytime soon.

Not a bad deal but I already got electrocuted by a power supply while it was running on.

It was quite fun.

On a completely unrelated note, on that page listing all their $5 deals, is anyone else REALLY FREAKED OUT by the logo for the invisible ink pen? It's not an animated GIF, but every time I catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye, it's definitely moving.

Er, carry on. Great deal!

I have purchased from surplus computers b4, they are reliable and have a good reseller rating.

You would definatly die. Tap water is loaded with ions, mostly decontaminants to keep it potable. Only 100% pure distilled H2O, fresh off the still, is non-conductive.

I heard some bad reviews on these. A local joke/trick/magic shop sold these for a while. I went to get one and they told me they had to stop selling them. Apparently, they're EXTREMELY frail and fall apart too easily. Too many returns made them pull them from the shelf. They still continued to sell the Shock Lighter... It can be found Here.

I bought one of these and if you want to hear a story about "shock testing it", I've got one. I was walking down the sidewalk at my university campus next to some dorms and a guy yelled from a 3rd story balcony, "Hey....got a lighter?" It was sooo funny cause, I had just bought this thing. I threw it up to the third story, he caught it and tried to light a cigar with it. Needless to say, he wasn't able to hold on to it and it fell 3 stories and landed on the sidewalk. I picked it up and ran away.... Best part was that it didn't do any damage to the coil and barely scuffed the outside. It's a good quality product and runs off a single AAA battery.

Man, the first time I read that I thought it said "he wasn't able to hold on to it and fell 3 stories".
