Not to sound like a snitch or something, but if you've read his comment from other forums he said it was never stated to be a permaban in the original thread.

He's full of it. He was banned, permanently.
Edit: The term, "permaban" wasn't around back then. But it was clear that he was gone for good.
Also, the fact that he was a moderator here was a bit of an aggravating factor, huh?

Saw that 1K other times on Usenet and BBSes before WWW was even being worked on. He was creepy, but if others were sucked in even though wiser people were telling them that he was a liar, so be it.

However, the reason for his permaban was a good one and I think it should stick. The fact that he still cares and wants back in so long after is an indication of his deeper problems.

At this point I couldn't agree more with Michael. Nik, Paulson was a kid who was merely annoying -- he wasn't a moderator in a position of trust. He didn't lie about a fake persona dying that genuinely upset a LOT of people here. Dennil did that, and although he was a friend at one point and time and helped me out a LOT personally, I have to agree with Michael. Because other past help he gave me I think think he might should be allowed back, but I'm still not 100% certain. What he did was horrible, and the fact that he "needs" this place and other online forums so much is pretty messed up.

Sure, I've got a lot of posts here, but that was back when I had the time to do so. I've been so busy as of late that I'm hardly ever posting or even READING the forum. I could be without the place for months if I had to. I certainly, however, understand being busy and it being a personal choice is different than if you are ostracized. Being ostracized he's gonna want to come back to make amends (if he can) and get validation. However, what he did was bad enough that I don't know if he deserves it.


shinerburke went WAY overboard with his fumods thing, but what he did certainly didn't warrant a lifetime ban. I think what many of us are saying is that if Dennil is let back -- then people who have committed less egregious offenses should be allowed back as well.

Crap, it's just the internet, but I guess some take what goes on here a bit personally. This forum was created by design to let people kind of run wild. While the rest of the forums here obviously demand better behavior. Frankly, having known Flossie for most of the positive things he did here, such as putting some creativity and intelligence into his posts (something you don't see much of anymore around here), and seti / rc5, plus being helpful to other members at times, when they were having trouble. I guess, I've always been able to overlook my friends faults and focus on the 95% that was good and let the other 5% of what they do, just kind of die off.

Hurt? Nope, I never was. Angry? Nope, not that either. Maybe some are, but maybe they are feeling like they let themselves get suckered into a great novel, believed it all, then got all PO'd. Who we really mad at guys?
