Haha did anyone else notice t-h-c.org? Now we really know what they've been smoking when they made their cars!

For 25K I would personally buy a used 325i, or an A4 because I like slightly smaller cars with tight handling and a 5-spd manual (with a clutch please) However, for that type of car the XG doesn't seam too bad. I might try and get some reliability statistics before hand because, 10 year warrenty aside, if you care is always in the shop it is no good to you.

Yup, who cares about a 10 year warranty if your car is in the shop all the time.

Plus, with Daewoo and other Korean companies going bankrupt, who knows if Hyundai will be around even next year.

You people and your god-damned american dollar! You know what $25k gets in Canada? A brand new, bottom of the line mustang V6 with nothing in it. That in the states will get a fully loaded V8, as comparison.

And $25k for a fully loaded Accord SE? Boy, I wish! $30k will only get an entry level nothing-in-it Maxima GXE.

Actully the XG300 has 4 airbags. It should have the 3.5L offered in The Equus in Korea. I say the XG looks better in the inside than any car in its catagory. For $23,000 you get CD player leather seats, auto trans. 3.0L V-6 4 airbags simulated wood trim 15"rims and more!

Did you not click on the CL link? You get all that you listed (and more--3.2L engine, 16" wheels, 6 disc in dash changer, auto with whatever their version of steptronic is, and why the fsck would you want simulated wood--I should know I have it in my current car, and its fugly), and you get the peace of mind of buying from an automaker who'll be around in three years. Plus it's reliable. Plus it looks a whole hell of alot better than the mix and match parts from luxury car makers rejects bin that make up the Hyundai. (did I mention I think its butt ugly? )

Anyways, there's plenty of other cars out there that are much better values for the amount of money you want to spend, the CL just happens to be one I like the best. A loaded Jetta, base Passat or A4, loaded Accord, loaded G20 (another personal fave), the list goes on...

I won't even delve into the thousands of used luxury cars which would be a better purchase than this luxorice POS.

Actually, Hyundai has been steadily climbing the ladder as far a build quality is concerned, they are now easily on par with American makes (and, in my personal subjective opinion, a darn sight better than Chrysler). Hyundai still cannot hit the standards set by the Germans and the Japanese, but few cars can. The only reason I can think of not to buy a Hyundai is preferance (i.e. you like a Civic or a Lumina better) and the imagined perception of others. Despite (sp?) Hyundai's great strides in reliability and build quality they are still percieved as barely a step up from the infamous Yugo. Goes to show how important first impressions are. I really think that you would be getting a great value for you money with that car.

EDIT: Experiences with Hyundai's; My friend's brother drove one of the original Excels for the longest time. He hated the car, and tried to kill it several times, but the thing would not quit, I recall him mentioning that he regularly went for more than 15,000 miles without an oil change. I recall that the car finally died when he hit ice in the winter and introduced the Excel to a tree at moderate velocity, destroying the drivetrain. The engine still ran, by the way, albeit rather roughly.

Why do people keep mentioning the Acura CL? Does the XG300 have 2 doors like the CL? No it doesnt! The XG300 has 4 doors and i actully want a back seat, and I dont like the Acura's styling. The Audi A4 is alot smaller than the XG300, the Accord's interior and exterior doesnt look as good as the XG300. Plus I dont want to have a car that every one else is driving, ie. Accord.

for a couple bucks more than the CL you can get a TL, which is my favorite acura. bascially, a CL with 4 doors. or a really loaded and tricked out and much better looking accord. if all goes well i'll get a TL type S next june... fassssst! then new intakes, exhaust system, better wires, plugs, better tires (energry savers came on my roommate's CL... what a rip!). oh, and theres no question about its reliablity. why does hyundai offer a ridiculous warranty? becuase they have sh!tty reputation. you'll probably need that warranty if you but one. not to mention that the warranty costs a lot of money, which you pay for. so really, it'd be about the same as a 3 or 4 year warranty car that costs a few thousand less. anyone will sell you an aftermarket warranty on a car. and it costs hyundai the same as it does allstate.

LOL @ Werk!

Actually the XG300 does look pretty good, but it resembles the Infinity I30 a bit in the front. It has almost the same grill as the 97-99 I30!

The XG300 could be a better seller if it went under a luxury marque of some sort. Hynduai should make a upscale luxury marque (ie: Lexus-Toyota, Acura-Honda, Infinity-Nissan) then it would sell better. I don't think many people want to spend $30K on a Hynduai, but if it were under a upscale brand then they might.

The Camero and the Pontiac Trans AM is one of the ugliest cars on the road. The interior is just ugly. The engine sound to me is annoying on the Camero. I dont really like American Cars.

the camaro, note the second A, has one of the nicest engine sounds on the planet. nothing beats the guttural sound of the roaring LS-1. rice boys with their bumble-bee mufflers can't come close.

IMO, the Camaro just sounds damn sexy in V-8 Form.

As for you naysayers....I can't believe al ya'll'sare backing the Acura TL. It's a nice car and all...but blecko. I wouldn't ever consider a Honda or Acura if I had $28K. Just 15 years ago, if you wanted to buy a Honda, you were treading a dangerous path. Give Hyundai time....they started making cars for the US Market in '86, Honda was out here way back when...'72 I believe. Honda is at least 14 years ahead, and they better be better than Hyundai. However...Hyundai will find their groove...oh yes they will.

I still woudln't buy a Hyundai though. I'd recommend the XG300 to others though. I need a quirky car The Honda and Hyundai are two companies both playing catch up to their automotive peers. Because of htis, their cares are SOOO plain. Hyundai actually takes styling risks...Honda...NOPE! However, both companies make hella bland cars.

I'll take a VW...or a used Alfa Romeo 164Q. YEA BABY!

Get an Infiniti I30, you'll get better quality and more power, plus Infiniti has a much better reputation.

The Korean carmakers have been steadily improving over the last few years. I'd say go for it, but dont plan on selling it anytime soon, I imagine the depreciation on all Hyundai's is massive probably the worst in the industry.

And for all the people recommending Acura's, I've got to disagree, I find them so boring and emotionless. They're solid and reliable, but they're now were near as good as the early Acura Legend that debuted in 1986. My parents had both an '88 Acura and a '94 Acura Legend, and the '88 model was 100 times more fun.

Personally, I think that any car company that has a 10 year, 100,000mile warranty can't be all THAT bad. My g/f has a hyundai and it's nowhere NEAR the POS that most Hondas and Fords are. It has good acceleration for a pickup and a pretty good stereo. And it doesn't break.

Stay the F*** away from Chevy/GM. Ugh.
