Um, Hyundai isn't really known for its luxary cars, but then again, I've never seen Hyundai make a luxury car. My guess would be that it would be cheaper, since it is Korean.

Nice! Looks like a cross between a Rolls Royce and a Mercedes S-Class.

Edmunds' comments on the car can be found here.

Some highlights:

<< Powered by a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine, the XG300 manages a smooth 192 horsepower (at 6,000 rpm) that allows for comfortable highway cruising and merging and passing with elan. A five-speed automatic with a manual shifting provision, called H-matic, is standard. >>

<< Hyundai loaded the XG300 with many standard features, including four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, 15-inch alloy wheels with Michelin V-rated tires, leather upholstery, power driver and passenger seats, power windows, locks and mirrors, six-speaker stereo with CD player, air conditioning, cruise control, keyless remote entry, trip computer, projector beam headlights and driver and passenger front- and side-impact airbags. >>

WOW!
The question is how reliable it is. It is covered by a "comprehensive" 10 year/100,000 mile warranty, though, so if anything goes wrong you're probably covered.

i've heard bad, bad stories about hyundai's. and not a single good story. i'd at least be wary and have it looked at by a good, honest mechanic before i opened my wallet.

Actually...the XG300, aka the Grandeur, was not built by Hyundai. It is actually a Mitsubishi design. Go figure The Grandeur looks way better, then the American XG300. I liked the Grandeur, and I'm pretty sure the XG300 will be the same as the Grandeur handling wise. For $25K though...you really could get a better car.

Paul

Edit: Who cares about reliability when you got a 10yr/100,000 mile warranty? Hyundai is changing it's image for the better.

Super Groove, If I do buy the XG300 ill change it to look like the Grandur. I do agree that the Grandur looks better than the XG300. The american XG needs a hood ordament and it needs to lose the black around the headlights. The XG could use better rims though.

Screw the Accord...for about $1800 more (than the Hyundai), you could get a new Acura CL(not the Type S though). This car comes loaded, no options except for a $1300 DVD-based navigation system (which I've heard is quite buggy, anyways). The MSRP on the Acura site is a bit high ($28k), and online dealers are selling them for about this, but local dealerships (one in my area, for example) are slashing the prices on them since the former models didn't sell too well. One of the best damn deals out there right now! I'm hoping the prices on them stay low until May, when I'll be getting a new car.

Oh, and the one advantage I can see in the Hyundai is the 10 year or whatever warranty...but will you still have this car in 10 years???

If I were to get a Hyundai XG300 I'd get:

17x8.0" BBS RX II wheels(I love these wheels)
Michelin MXX3
Bilstein coilovers, and eibach springs(A MUST, the Grandeur was too soft)
Brospeed Exhaust
K&N Filter

Maybe if I was really extreme, I'd get some strut and sway bars too. The Grandeur is VERY soft. The engine's kinda week too...wonder why that's so...the Grandeur in Korea had a more powerful engine. One thing I really hate about the XG300, is the rear end. What's up with that? The Top of the line Grandeur in Korea is a very handsome sedan. Too much chrome on the XG300.

HONDA! BAH!! 10yr/100K warranty...and it's for a semi-luxurious car? You gotta be sh*ttin me, I'm on cloud nine!

I dont like the rear tail light config, but over all seems like a good deal. I might test one out this weekend if I can find a local dealer to have one.

Not that I am looking for a new car, I am happy with my dinky little everyday driving toyota. but sake of writing reviews I must.

I think the XG300 is a pretty dope car. The Hyundai of today is not quite the same of years ago. Reliability ratings have improved for pretty much all Hyundai cars, and they still have the best warranty of any auto maker. I'd pick an accord coupe over the XG (the accord coupe just looks too sweet), but between the Accord sedan and the Xg I'd definitely get the XG.

I bought my Solara for about that price. Your Hyundai looks nice, but you should probably test drive it and see if you like it first. The stats are fine, but its really up to what you like and what fits you the best.

Well I'll be damned. This is the first Hyundai, let alone, the first Korean car I've actually liked. Looks good, specs look good, warranty kicks ass. Only thing holding it back is the name and its trouble history... I'm a Honda fan, so I'll recommend the CL like someone did before... maybe a TL too? But both of them are a little more.

I think that you can't go wrong with Hyundia's warranties that they throw on ALL of their cars... And from what I see, their low end luxury sedan isn't looking all that bad

i have never seen a hyundai like the one you showed. but hyundai's reputation here in australia is fairly poor. there cars are very cheap (i dont think they sell any that look near as classy as that) and because of this, they often start to have problems after about 2 years, and the resale value is terrible because there are too many of them.
