Should I try to sleep...

Last couple of weeks I've been trying to use prescription sleep aids to sleep and failing (would still be 4-5 hours past when I really needed to fall asleep)... So yesterday, I said fuck it and didn't sleep. Felt fine next day/this night. Now, I'm on night two and don't think I can fall asleep again; considering screwing it again... My medical issues are beyond being worth going into to describe all the things that might be happening; this is actually a thinly veiled rant.

I had trouble sleeping too...it's terrible and nobody can really understand the effect it had unless they go through it.

My doc is very negative on sleeping aids/prescriptions in general. I started going to the gym after work and do a solid 2 hours worth of exercises...I'm gassed by the time I get home and fall right to sleep.

Just a thought if you have not tried it.

All my joints are crap. I can barely move around yet alone work out, and attempted to do so would further damage me.

I think there have been so many views and such little response is just because we honestly don't now. Sleep patterns are a complicated matter - have you had this problem before? Have you started new meds that have induced this? Have you tried anything that worked in the past? Have you gone through a sleep study?

I wish I had more answers than questions, but because sleep and causes of disrupted sleep/insomnia are so varied, it's hard to do so.

It's really bad problem... Getting more tired helps me to fall asleep, but it's highly individual and can be unuseful for you.. I mean, I should work physically hard to fall asleep normally.

If you have a mental health doc (whatever the proper one for this is called) and this is a chronic problem, I suggest trying a small dose of trazadone as a sleep aid. I had to use it years ago, and it is like the only one that doesn't mess up REM sleep which is incredibly important. Mental health doc is because it was originally used as an anti depressant, but it is used by mental health docs now as a sleep aid far far more often.

That's what I was taking (double doses actually (with permission from doctor)) a few days ago ^.^ I was generally a complete mess the day afterwards too; yesterday, I was somewhat functional the whole day (half of that had to do with getting a toradol shot). I was in the bowels of a red nightmare last night though : ( I did finally fall asleep at around 3 and then I woke up several times from either itching or overheating T.T and now I'm awake for a new day.

It's fine. It just wasn't worth listing everything since there's so much stuff going on now it could be any number of things; because of that, I knew there wasn't really advise to give. I just wrote it the way I wanted to for amusement. That's what the rant disclaimer at the end was for : p I think my current doctors think otherwise, but I actually have generally in my life tried to fix my problems myself so I've tried many things with vary success that no longer work. I have a referral for a sleep study, but I've been having problems getting it scheduled. The first time I had it set up happened to be the day DC area gov shut down for snow that didn't exist T.T
