Should I upgrade now or later?

Hi, I run a Radeon X1900XTX and I was thinking if there are any cards out there that can really out perform my radeon. My card is still worth over half the price of most new cards so that is kinda on my mind as well. I would be able to sale mine and add about 50-80$ and get a new one.

Should I upgrade? If so to what? Or should I wait for a card that will be launched in the future?

All I play is CS Source and TF2. I will get into other games when I dont work 12 hours a day 7 days a week hah!

My advice is to upgrade only if you feel the current card does not keep up with the game you are playing. Newer and better video cards for the same price are releasing every few months.

I had the same card, and I upgraded to the 8800GT. My gaming performance pretty much doubled since upgrading the GPU, I thought it was a pretty good deal coming from my older card.

i was perfectly fine with my 6800 vanilla and 3200+ xp(socket a) playing tf2 until cod4 came out. had to upgrade then. first game that was too much for me. note i don't play over 1280x1024(i HATE tearing).

It is a matter of personal preference. I think it would be best to wait a while as your card still is a good performer for the most part. As the current cards are not great performers in DX10, or in some of the newer games for the most part, I think it wisest to wait until a card comes that can crunch these newer games a bit better.

When you play other - more demanding - games ... upgrade
--what resolution do you game at and what is the rest of your system like?

. . . and yes, there ARE many cards out there that can really out perform your radeon

so ... it "depends" on *your needs* [and wants]

When are these to be released? Are they mid-range? - AMD's current high-end is HD3800 series.

Upgrade later. Your video card is fine for what your doing.
