This, above all else, is the fundamental flaw in liberalism.
Too bad it is also the fundamental premise!

I dont think it needs to be banned. To each their own. Whatever gets them through the day. But i do wish it would remain behind close doors and not preached to the rest of the world who doesnt want to hear it. Religion should be a personal thing between you and whatever god you worship. Keep it that way.

Banning religion, at least for the reasons you mentioned, would be completely illogical unless we also banned government, as government commits at least as many "sins" as religion. Since only government or a mandate from the masses) could ban government, what you propose is clearly illogical.

Even tho I believe nothing should be banned, Zebo has a good point. I can't speak for any but self. But religion (Christian ) Should be banned. It doesn't work its broken. Why is it broken ? Because Christian as we know it is in fact SUN worship . We need to get away from dogma! Faith is were we need to set our crosshairs . Threw faith we grow spiritually and become leaders by our good works and examples. None of this exist in christian religion . The example was the Christ The way is the light, faith is the path ,completness is the goal. Going to churuch on SUN day won't get you a seat on the back of the bus. If we live by faith and use the example of the christ as our Standard . Peace would be among us. No other groups would attack or fear you. For you are a lamb among lions.

The ironic thing is I know a good many people who, if you asked them that, would be praying for God to forgive you and accept you into his love or whatever, while you'd just stare and spit at them lol.

Religions are like guns in one regard. Religion doesn't make people stupid, people make people stupid.

It shouldn't be banned, but we should stop giving them perks. They should pay taxes, etc.

But, if the Pope can't control his own pedophiles, European and American governments should start treating the Catholic church as a conspirators to the crimes of their priests.

No not at all I know very religious people and love some of them, but think about it, they are hateful at their core with exclusionary tactics like everlasting life in fiery hell if you're not down w/ their cult. Then some of doctrine is used to kill in RL too. Read terrorists screeds, it's all in there. We shunned if not banned nazis and KKK for similar but religion is off limits for some reason.

banning religion is as bad as the religious forcing religion on you. We will not stoop to their level. Plus first amemndment stuff.

Freedom from brain-washing cults doesn't sound so bad to me. Intentional all caps but it don't work ehh!

Religions are based on hate and exclusion not to mention breeding their drones to maximum extent. This is very dangerous for society at large and when they get overwhelming lots of free thinking peoples start dieing look at history or even today in many places. I classify it as a clear and present danger. Go to Saudi Arabia and witness a few stonings & beheading... or read about medieval torture devices all religious based.

Fundi Catholics buttfucking children.

Over 1 billion of them world wide should be judged by the actions of the aberrant few?

Muslims - nuff said.

Again 1.5 billion of them world wide yet you would judge them all by the actions of the aberrant few?

Hindi's killing their daughters.

Really don't know about this but I suspect it is similar to your blanket statements regarding the other 2 religions.

Thoughts?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Sums up my thoughts completely.

Yes, The greatest document ever created but has two flaws.
1. religion
2. no balanced budget amendment

As far a isolated that's just not true. Many of thier actions are carried out by most pious men like priests and Madrassa (islamic religious school) graduates. And most of what they do is doctrine.

As much as I despise religion, I have to recognize that it is still a part of human society.

Still a part of human society, but is it a good part? , can you honestly tell me that religion makes the world a better place to live when most religions are incompatible with each other and divide people instead of bringing them together?

A great many people are too stupid to think on their own, and therefore need guidance by some make-believe "greater power".

The problem here is that these stupid people are not 'guided' by their god. they're guided by manipulative old men with their own political agendas that 'CLAIM' to be speaking in the name of god.

Yes, I know it's pathetic, but it's necessary. Without religion many fools would be lost, and society as we know it would collapse.

This is all argumentative , why is it neccesary? there's no evidence to support this claim that society would collapse.

Hopefully, in the future, we will be able to free ourselves from the bonds of stupidity. Until that time, religion will be a part of our lives.

Why not start now? , if humanity wants to survive the sooner that we free ourselves of thousand year old myths that dictate how humanity lives their lives and treats each other the better off we will be.

I don't need to go to Saudia Arabia to see the effects of religion. There's a public park just outside my office building, and every evening a van full of nuns pulls up to hand out food to the homeless. They don't make 'em say a prayer first or grow a beard or anything - they just give some hungry people some free food. So hateful! You're an idiot.

Humans are a violent and hierachical species. Getting rid of religion isn't going to change that.

Every liberal up on his high horse proclaims there is no need for religion in the world.

But when you get out in the real world and experience the way humans live, there are a large number of very good things that are accomplished through faith that simply cannot be done without faith. Liberals may say that anything done through faith can be done without faith, but that just is not so.
