Should we blame God for Katrina?

I have not posted in a spell - and never to 'Off Topic' - just have been thinking of this - and wondered what people thought.

Well, should we? ..blame God, that is. The reason I ask is that we have been placing blame everywhere - but I have not heard anyone really blame God.

Now I am not doing that. I was just wondering why we have not explored the spiritual side of all that is going on about us. It just seems that there has been a lot of stuff happening - bad stuff. We have seen 9-11, Iraq, the Tsunami - and now Katrina. Why do these type events seem to be increasing and becoming more frequent? When California has the 'BIG UN' - will we take note that there may be a cause slightly outside our natural comprehension - our scientific theories? When the US economy can't take it anymore and is on the verge of collapse - will we start looking beyond ourselves?

Will we then look to God for an answer?

Blaming god for this is like blaming bush for the schizophrenic who shot your dog in the face...

easy to do but completely unwarranted and unprovable...

Personally if I was going to try and place blame for a natural occurance I would blame physics.

There is no god, so of course I'm not going to blame god.

Also, I haven't ever heard ANYONE blaming people for the storm (outside of the scientific community blaming global warming for increasing the intensity of the smorm). People have been blamed for NOT reacting to the catastrophe in a reasonable time. If we start blaming god, then we may as well just blame god for everything that doesn't go in our favor. I got a headache the other day, I'm not gonna blame myself for consuming a full bottle of rum and a bunch of beers, no, I will just blame god.

In the end, it is frankly illogical to associate blame with anyone or anything in such a scenerio.

We are such simple creatures in the end, that we long for the personification of all that we see and all that we believe.

Natural occurences, or divine intervention, whichever you choose to beleive, are in essence, humanistic interpretations of the universe, a universe that heeds not for the welfare of man.

we are simply habitants on this mindless planet, so personifying it jsut leads nowhere

lke, whatever

Yes, Neos, "God" is most definitely to blame for Hurricane Katrina. Clearly, "God", the Creator of the universe, wanted a hurricane that powerful to slam into New Orleans.

It's funny. The religious wackos don't believe in science until there's a natural disaster... Then it's not God to blame, but the weather, which for once isn't controlled by God.

Blaming God does nothing positive for anyone other than those who would rather absolve themselves from personal responsibility in the wake of unavoidable disaster.

I say we blame ourselves as humans to be such egomaniacs thinking we no longer have to pay homage to mother nature.

We need to blame the Alien weather machine on the dark side of the moon. Did you know that 2/3 of the Chinese and half of the Russian populations has already been assimilated since the crash of the Alien ship in Tunguska central Siberia in 1908. According to my estimates 15% of ATOT has been infected just look at the Politics and News forum. And Rossman?s attempt to destabilize the economy in the Hot Deals section. Prepare your self for the end is near...
