Indeed! My buddy's aincent xp rig says he thinks he can blow my doors off, due to the fact he has a 140cfm delta fan in it... hmm. 2500+xp and a 9600agp.. Well, If you want to talk sound wise, My rig in the sig, with the 700v zalman cooler, it's quieter than my friend's dell from y2k. hmm I love intel 815gfx

look at the bright side; HyperThreading will help mediate the struggle between video and audio while gaming. They should be good to go as long as the ethernet isn't onboard, in whic case all bets are off

i know exactly what show your talking about. i love watching that guy lisp and spit all over the place trying to glorify that pure waste of a gallon of oil setting on the desk. i work a swing shift and come in sometimes at 6am and watch this show laughing myself to sleep. AND THE PEOPLE THAT CALL IN saying how happy they are with their preloaded, gagging and weezing computer, have you noticed how many icons are in the system trays when they show a close up, i'll bet that thing has over 125 processes running on initial boot....damn morons, they deserve it.:disgust:

They would have to pay me to take that rig, cause it would need basicly everything upgraded. PC2700 with an 800mhz FSB cpu is gonna starve it. The onboard graphics are horid. The generic PSU will probalby end up blowing and killing the machine anyway. Very far from state of the art.

That computer is worth $500 TOPS. And that's if you WANTED it. You can get TWO dells that are both better than that ****** for the same price if you keep your eye out for coupon deals. Better yet, build an amd that doesn't suck ass.

Probably come to 1100-1300 USD and will Stomp that POS into the ground. Drop an extra $100 to get an opteron 165 over the 146 if they want dual core. And this is a gaming/anything else rig. If they don't game you can drop to 2x512meg ram and get a cheaper gfx. And hard drive is my preference as the "sweet spot" mixing price and size and technology. You can save a little by sacrificing tech or size.

Actually, I priced a cheapy sempron system, anc compared it to a dell. Geuss what?
my system had a better proc (deleron for the dell)
my memory was 1 gig and ddr 400 (dell had 512 333)
hdd.. 120 gig sata dell? 80 gig pata
ect.. dvd burner for mine, and 15" lcd for both. which cost more? the dell by 600. do the math on the egg. Funny thing is, in the same school distric, we have primary rigs using 1.3 willamette pc's with rdram, yet the comp tech school I attend has 820d's with 1 gig of ddr2 and 17"lcd. Nothing incredibly powerful, but still a stark dichotomy.

Kinda think that is a HOOT! Like somebody else said...take them over some of "OUR" type of software. Let em pop it in their "RIG" (lol) and watch it come to a chuggin lock-up. I have friends that come to me asking for opinions about their PCs. I am only a "Dumb Truck Driver" that builds/fixes/plays with PCs on the side for fun but I know enough to point people in the right direction. I had a friend's 15 yr old son asking me about a new PC. He talked about the Dells and such. I sat him down here in front of the screen and showed him site after site of Gaming PCs and then explained the differences in the "GUTS" of the PC. Higher end components and such make a HUGE difference. He was converted easily because I coulc show him in black and white what was needed. His parents, mostly his Mother, were not. They didn't want to buy a "TOY" as they called mine. Well, the family went to CircuitCity and picked out a $1000 Compaq (he didn't/couldn't resist the urge to buy THEN!). That was about 4 months ago. I just sold him my old AMD System for $550. Rosewill Black MidTower/side panel/neons. Antec 400PSU, Abit NF-7 MoBo, AMD 1900 OCd@1.75, Geforce 3 Ti200, 512 Crucial PC3200, NEC DL DVD Burner, Maxtor DiamondMAx 200gig HD. Heck, I even tossed in a 21"CRT (it was kinda old, but works).
For being an older rig, it does just fine. It can play ANYTHING out right now, lower some settings of course. It is funny as can be...he just gutted the $1000 Cumpaq for some pieces and stuff to build another machine with a case/mobo I gave him. LMAO! Me and the wife spent NYE over at their house and we talked about it. NEXT time they are ready to buy a PC, they WILL listen to me...ALL is good.

Now for your group there...sit them down at the screen and just let the mighty internet back you up. They WILL see the truth written here. Many smart people to back YOU up. L8R.

I have watched that show a few times....This is quite a step back in the other components...The fastest cpu I have seen them list but the ddr pc2700 is a real lame setup.....I wathced one night when the whole system kept crashing and then error messages were popping up and or programs where taking forever to start and they would quickly click out of things....hiding the error messages and moving ongoing apps from min to max to hide what wasn't starting.....
