Well my KT-7a Raid/T-Bird came in today and the first thing I did was remove the heatsink to see if the L1 bridges were open which they were. I have spent the last few hours looking for some rear-window defogger paint to connect the L1 bridges and can't find any in this darn town. I guess I will have to wait to overclock this baby. <g> I now what some are going to say and no.. I'm not going to use the pencil trick, because I want this to last. I could order the conductive pencil but that would take another week.
My question is... I noticed that they used some tape or something as a heatsink compound that looks like it melted or formed around the core. It doesn't look like I will be able to salvage it or I'm afraid to use it again. Since I repair TV's and Stereo's I have plenty of silicon lying around and since I'm not going to overclock for awhile would it hurt to use the paste ?
