Silver Components for New Case?

I recently purchased a few cases and accidentally got one that was all silver, instead of the usual silver & beige. It's just a steel case with a plastic front, not an expensive aluminum one.

It is a nice-looking case, but my I'm afraid my CD-ROM, floppy, etc. will look strange with it.

What do people usually do with these aluminum-colored cases? Spray paint their components? Buy silver ones?

I know this may sound like a silly question, but I thought I would ask before I did something rash and then found out that there was a better, simpler way to do it.

TIA!

lian-li sells stick-on pieces for the bezels of most popular items, like sony or pioneer cd rom drives and such... they match silver cases perfectly.

Also, you can go to a art store and get a sheet of... I forget the name of it... but one side is silver and the other is adhesive, just carefully put it on bezels and it looks good.

Also, you can use the ole' stealth trick and avoid painting altogether.

I know that Directron has a whole section with silver faced drives. You can also use vinyl dye rather than paint to match the color. Easy to use (dries in minutes, runs absorb into the plastic) and readily available at auto parts stores or large chains such as Wal-Mart...

Thanks for the advice.

I will investigate both of these possibilities (vinyl dye and the contact paper stuff).

Thanks, guys, for your help!

I think I will "stealth" the CD drives, since I tend to upgrade them frequently and this shouldn't effect their usability on other systems later.

If I install a floppy, I will probably use vinyl dye to make it match.

I appreciate all this info. I would have been looking for a week to find all these great references.

I just did all my face plates with silver model paint and a camel's hair brush. Then added red accents - very cool looking. Also, Black components look nice in a silver/aluminum case - and they are available most anywhere.

Don't use silver film - too shiny.

Lian-Li makes plates with adhesive backing that just pop onto your drives. They have one that matches your drives I'm sure. They are silver or black with that "brushed" look that should match the case.
