Does a 1992 Geo Metro lack a rear window defroster?

Or where can I find that sort of information?

My cousin just got one for her first car (sh!tty, but she's saving) .. anyways on the license test they ask you to identify the rear window defroster and uh it doesnt seem to be there.

It might not have one although it's standard equipment in 95% of cars.

If there are horizontal lines about 1 1/4 inches apart on the inside of the glass, then it has a rear defroster. Those lines are conductive "paint" that heats up from electrical current.

i don't know your answer, or where you could get it, but for discussion purposes, i would like to say that I would rather drive a car that has some weight to it, like some early 80s cadilac or something. should cost about the same, and much beter than that death trap. if your eally care about this person, then push this car off of a cliff with noone in it, and you would all be better off.

It's only temporary .. anyhow, will that be a problem when she takes the test in it? (I'm 99% sure that they ask you to identify the rear window defroster in the pre-test portion)

seriously, you would do better to ask on a newsgroup if you have such access -- its entirely possible that it was available only as an option or part of an option package.

Tell her to look at the back window, or look yourself. No horizontal wires = no rear defroster. If there are wires, look in the freaking manual if you can't find the switch. It shouldn't be a problem on the test if there's no defroster, because she can't reasonably be asked to identify something that's not there. All she'll need to say is "there isn't one on this car, see," and point to the back window.

dude, I don't think they're going to fail her for buying a car with no rear defroster. If they ask you can just say it doesn't have one!

It depends on what part of the country the car was sold in.. not all require a rear window defroster...

Yeah its actually not that bad to not have one.

Its pretty easy to tell too. Look at the rear window. If there are lines, it has a defroster. If its clear glass with no dark lines on it, it has no defroster.

I live in the midwest and we see plenty of snow, yet most of our cars dont have a defroster. You learn to live without it. Just think if you get a jeep wrangler with a soft top, a very snow capable vehicle, you get no defroster.
