What's a good low-cost hosting/domain registration company?

It needs to be reliable and have a decent amt of space (1gb+) and transfer(call it.... 10gb/mo) available.

Any suggestions?

I've been using Canaca.com for years now, never any complaints about it. I pay about 15/mth, and they claim I have like 1000GB/mth of transfer bandwidth, I've never used even close to it so who knows if that'd be true or not. They're pretty reliable though, always quick to respond to technical problems, and never had them lose my site like some other low cost hosts have in the past.

They're two different things:

I would recommend using a domain registrar to register your domain, not your web host.

1) NameCheap.com for domain registration

2) HostPC.com has a new special offering 5GB/50GB for $34.99 per year

Of course there are other choices for web hosting. What's your budget?

I used cernax for awhile and really loved the service. I now use HostPC and they're really good as well

Been using surpasshosting for like 5 years costs like $6 (200gb/2000gb).

There have been hic-ups, but they are usually resolved within hours after contacting support.

I'd prefer not to spend more then $10/mo for it. I'm not going to be using it heavily (picture hosting, mainly for family/friends and websites, some other things here and there).

Is there an advantage to registering the domain with a separate company rather then with the webhost?

I'm using hostPC, and there is NO WAY IN THE WORLD that I could recommend them.

They were pretty good for a while, but lately, they just can't seem to get it done. Joe (the owner) used to post here. Years ago, when I signed up, he would respond to emails quickly and take care of it. Lately, I don't even get responses.

For the last month or two, a lot of my emails have been getting returned becuase they think I'm spam. I'm not, and have never sent a piece of spam in my life, yet it appears as though someone else on my server has been doing this. I've sent numerous emails to Joe, and I haven't heard a thing.

As of this AM, I can't send ANY email. EVERYTHING I send gets returned. I've emailed joe, and filed a claim. I have yet to hear ANYTHING, and it's been over an hour.

STAY AWAY FROM HOST PC. I don't know if they got too big or what. But there customer service is virtually non-existant.

I thought it was just me but I'm having the same problem with email. I get an assload of emails from various mail servers saying my mail was bounced back etc. That means someones sending out spam by spoofing my domain? I haven't been getting legitimate emails bounced back to me though.
