Bolded relevant parts. Uh... What? He was told repeatedly he can't skate and he still doesn't realize it's wrong? Someone slap this dude. Hahahahaha...
In any case, it does look to me like the officer pushed the guy into the bushes, however I'm not feeling bad for him for the following reasons:
1. We got a small parking lot near our apartment and we got skateboarders hanging out there well past midnight. Fvsking annoying when you're trying to sleep and you hear the skateboard grinding the pavement. Neighbors called police several times, they came every time, shooed kids away, but they still keep coming back. So yeah, I don't really care for skateboarders.
2. He knew it was wrong to skate, he says so to ABC reporter.
3. He had a warning coming, if you listen to the audio police officer starts yelling at him BEFORE he makes the jump. He just ignores her.
4. If 2 and 3 is not enough, read this. The camera makes a great job closely following skateboarder and making sure to have a very narrow angle so you don't see much until officer comes into the picture. Yet, you can see they make a full circle around fountain/whatever. In the beginning of the video the water is on the right, at the end it almost is on the right again. The video takes off with police officer directly behind them, they make full circle back to the police officer again. They knew police officer was there, she was right behind them when the video starts and bull that they didn't see her as one of the articles claims.
5. In the end you can hear the great tirade from the cameraman, that is
so staged.
So let me summarize. The guy skateboards on public property which he knows he isn't supposed to do. He knows police officer is there and he hears her warning him before he makes the jump, yet he still does it. And in all the likelyhood the video was staged too. So yeah, I applaud the officer for sending him over the bushes. Nice job.
