It really is up to the moderators to decide punishment and we must trust the fact that they will do the right thing.

The problem now is that everyone is making mountains out of molehills and things are getting blown way out of proportion.

It just seems everyone's out to get someone here...and they dont' wanna do it alone.

Where there's smoke there's fire In my personal life I absolutely do not associate with people I know to lie. Why should I? I don't lie, so I find it reasonable to hold others to my standards. If somebody lies to any significant degree, as we've seen here, in what way can that person be held accountable in the future? They are, to me at least, worthless in what they say. But you aren't forced to associate with liars here. Every thread is a different conversation and it is never the member's business until the member posts in it. I rarely support hardlines so I won't exactly say "just ignore him." But I think I need to reiterate again that it's not the message I disagree with, it's the approach. If this snowballs, countless good-hearted neffers like yours truly will be subjected to countless "you're worthless" and "you add nothing" harrassments. I wasn't implying any sort of organized plan to get a member banned. Actually, I was addressing Sack's main issue, which he also brought up in the thread I started about OIKOS in FI. Basically, what is so wrong about pointing out annoyances that the mods might not have noticed yet? People do it all the time for people spamming in HD or other forums.

Ah, this is the crux of the matter. How can you say that those who reply to threads calling for moderator action aren't just as annoyed by the poster and aren't just out to gang up? Why is one persons opinion on the matter valid but 10-20's a lynching?

Well, this is where it seems tricky.

If "means justify the ends" then all you need it is one person to pm a mod asking the mod to take notice of the behavior. Eventually the person will get banned if violations occur.

If "ends justify the means" then make it an issue and force the mods to ban because they just don't want the 10-20 to keep complaining. The mods did not ban NightRaven because he was a habitual liar. He was banned because he was provoked into making a "call-out" thread of another member, which is forbidden as many have been banned for making those types of threads.

The next question is...who's next? What social quirk will be the next form of contamination to the community? When will be the "BAN Sack cuz he's a pusseee!" thread?
