i just finished installing all the components in my Thermaltake Armor case and I pressed the power button on the front and the machine turned on for 1 sec then turned off. When i held the button down it would turn on/off over and over.

I have unplugged everything except what is needed to POST. so all hard drives, dvd drives, etc are unplugged and it still wouldn't work. Same thing happened, on for a sec, then immediately off.

Here is my setup:

2x Intel 5420 quads
Intel Skulltrail Mobo
2x 2g Wintec FBDIMM pc-6400
8800 Ultra
Razer soundcard
pci-e 2 port sata card
Silverstone Strider 1000w PSU

hard drives:
300gb velociraptor
2x 1TB maxtor
3x 750gb seagates

lg bluray dvd drive
regular dvd/r drive

120mm fan
2 small fans.

I thought at first that there might not be enough power for all i have in there, but after unplugging everything but the mobo/videocard it would do the same on/off deal. I may be missing something easy, but i am at my wit's end with this thing. Any help is greatly appreciated!

??? From the looks of it you already have like $2500 invested.

What was your goal? It cant be gaming, you are dumping way too much money on the mobo and with 8 cores? Short of some cad\server apps nothing is optimized to utilize that. It would be much better to get a normal board with a fast single CPU.

I if it was for video editing\encoding\number crunching why would you only put 4 GB in it? I mean short of the dvd drive it had to be the cheapest component (and rather important to the tasks).

It just kinda blows my mind that someone would spend that kinda cash so haphazardly.

Well, I guess if its frys its a little less risky... But still what where you thinking?

A shot in the dark but double check your cpu fan connecters. One time the PSU --> Floppy connecter was dangling so close to where my CPU fan connector was and I accidently plugged the floppy power supply connector into the motherboard. I'm still thankful that the whole thing didn't blow up.
