Sledgehammer vs Clawhammer?

I'm going with an AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 s939 in an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum NForce3 Ultra Motherboard S939

Finally when I'm ready to buy the processor, Newegg is out of stock. I found one at Zipzoomfly but there's a difference.

Newegg shows: Sledgehammer core

Zipzoomfly shows: Clawhammer core

What's the difference between the two? Better quality? Different pin configuration? Which one should I go with?

Lol all this is driving me crazy and I want to get it over with. I have all these boxes sitting on my table ready to go, but I don't want to make a mistake. Especially with such an expensive part.

Summary: Clawhammer is socket 754 and won't fit your intended socket 939 motherboard.
You need a socket 939 Sledgehammer or Newcastle.

They're the same. Technically, Newegg is wrong because Sledgehammer is the Opteron core (which is Socket 940 only) and all Socket 939 chips are Clawhammer\Newcastle. Either way, they're basically the same thing, just order whichever is cheaper, just make sure it's Socket 939.

Yea I went with the Clawhammer from Zipzoomflay $840. Free 2nd day air & my 2nd WD 74 gig 10k RPM Sata Raptor from Newegg. This is it to complete my system.. Finally!

Can't wait to get it assembled and running

According to the link posted earlier in this topic there is a 939 pin version of the Sledgehammer core.
