Slow HD?

Hi all,
I recently bought a samsung F4 2TB sata hard drive to store my music and movies on. I heard it was as fast drive, however I am having some issues with it. When I play MP3s from the drive it will stutter, and take a long time to load them into VLC and also long times during seeking of the song. Is this normal? Is there some software setting in windows that I need to change? When I ran the MP3 from my main Seagate 250GB 7200rpm drive it was fast and had no problems.

Did you know it was only a 5400rpm HD when you bought it?

Please. Modern 5400RPM drives are plenty fast. Here's a Caviar Green against a first and 1.5 gen Raptor 10,000 RPM drives:

Those Raptors don't stutter and the Caviar Green is just as fast if not faster than either in single-user scenarios.

Try reloading VLC.

Probably to show that 5400 RPM drives are nearly as good as the 10K drives of 4 years ago. Areal density conquers all (ok, well most).

OP, sounds like you've either got a bad drive (run Samsung's diagnostics) or a software problem.
