Slow Loading Win2K

Ever since I installed my logitech optical mouse, windows went from taking 30 seconds to load, to taking 3 to four minutes to load. I doubt these things are related, but I don't know. It stalls for a couple minutes right after it gets to the colorful W2K splash screen. I reinstalled windows, and converted file system to NTFS (was going to do it anyway, didn't think it would solve my problem), but it still stalls for a long time. Any suggestions? Thanks

no, no network card.
i have a lucent winmodem, but installed that after I started having problems
