Hello

Had my eye on the asus N10 for a while, but the screen resolution always bugged me.

But, I'm looking to buy a 12" or smaller machine for general netbook use, watching vids, and getting my dailies done in WoW. And I don't want to spend anywhere near a grand. I don't even want to spend $599 (im a cheap bastage), but I've found 3 options that all sorta look la schmoove.

HP DV2

Asus N10

MSI Wind U210

Give me your thoughts plz. I kinda like the DV2 as of today, but I'm worried about the reports of crazy heat.

I'm don't mean to appear cute or rude, but suffer me for a moment anyway...

Take a look at these graphs:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cp...+Atom+N270+%40+1.60GHz (CPU Mark - Intel Atom N270 @ 1.60GHz)

You want to watch videos and play WoW. Tell me, which path will lead you to happiness, and which to remorse?

If you want good battery life:

Acer Aspire Timeline 11.6"

Depending on when you will actually be buying, Asus has announced their competitor to the Acer Timeline with up to 12 hour battery life and discrete graphics.

Atom based netbooks can play WOW. Check youtube. I prefer Guild Wars and it plays well on my Dell Mini 10v that I paid $185 for through Dell outlet.

Most people aren't worried about the Daily Heroic right now since Brewfest is on this week.

Having owned a typical netbook, N270 Atom, 2GB of RAM, and GMA950, I sincerely doubt your going to get an acceptable play experience in WoW.

The Asus N10, with its Nvidia IGP, is probably more acceptable, but its higher pricing make it a better idea to go with one of the more feature rich notebooks. A Dell Studio 14 can be had for the same price as the netbook, is nearly as portable and offers much more powerful hardware.

Edit - I do like the look of the MSI Wind U210 though I would prefer it with an IGP that supports Aero and 1080p hardware decoding. I do not believe the X1250 does either.

Yes they can, but it is painful. I just tried it this past weekend on my MSI Wind, freshly upgraded to 2GB and with the overclocking BIOS (on AC power, CPU at around 2GHz and RAM at 667MHz). In Darnassas at 1024x600 resolution with all effects set to low I was getting a whopping... 15FPS.

On an earlier patch and in Ironforge I was getting 21-27FPS. In my limited testing I've determined that netbooks (for gaming) are CPU limited in that overclocking it from 1.6GHz to 2.0GHz generated a huge boost in gaming performance.

MSI Wind: Overclocking and GMAbooster benchmarks

With this kind of performance I'll stick to playing Starcraft on my netbook and not WoW.
