Wow, how long does it take to boil an 8oz glass of water placed behind the exhaust fan of the PSU?Originally posted by: Capt Caveman
From what I've read, folks are getting 830's to 3.6ghz stable on air and over 4ghz w/ water.

There are some at the more iNtel friendly sites...PPL here are too smart even the intel faithful realize to sit this one out and wait for the dual core dothan style desktop offering....
I bet when it is all done here there will be at least 10 to 1 in X2 versus P D systems...
I am surprised I haven't seen the 820's with all the ppl who cried the iNtel was better priced.....I guess maybe they are hard to get, or hard to cool still...Who knows...
Apparently he was only out on day release and got taken back to the asylum early due to heat exhaustion.Originally posted by: Vegitto

They're greatly outperformed by the X2s, and for most things an overclocked single core athlon would be much better.
$260 vs $600
Makes sense.

Them being wrong/saying something just to show Intel bias wouldn't be a first.

If I didn't have to replace my motherboard, I would almost consider getting one and overclocking since I already have water cooling, but for now it's not worth the price to go from a 3.4ghz single core @3.82ghz, to a much slower more expensive 2.8ghz dual core that won't likely reach speeds anywhere near 3.8.

Slower? Do you mean clockspeed? Not to be obtuse but "so what"? Unless you do nothing but streaming, the P4 will still run slower...

He's talking about a Pentium D 820 and not a X2. This is a thread about Pentium D's, not a thread to question people's decisions. A lot of folks are happy with their Intel dual cores and that's all that matters.
