Brits Seek Ban on Smoking in Public Places
The British government said Tuesday it would seek a ban on smoking in most public places, including restaurants and any pub or bar that serves food.

The proposed ban would be phased in gradually if it is approved by Parliament, Health Secretary John Reid announced.

It would first apply on government premises and eventually in offices, restaurants and any pub or bar where substantial food is available, he said.

Bars and pubs that serve no food ? about 20 percent of England's drinking establishments, Reid said ? would not be affected by the ban.

Oh well, let him on thinking he COULD define "sin" with a mathematical formula or prove how a question could be wrong......

You don't know the forumula= 1+whatever=whatever some "tolerant" man like CycloWizard can find in his bag of sins, AKA "everyone is horrible if he's not catholic".

Hey Cyclo, just to piss you off i am using a condom tonight, you know, the protection that "offers no protection". in the Catholic world while the rest of the world recognizes that it is the ONLY protection that actually protects you from HIV and other veneral diseases.

ban it.

I find that particularly ironic because I've spoked on and off for a year with absolutely no signs of dependence whatsoever. I am, of course, just one man, however.

I was high on meth for a few years, used steroids for 8 years, have tried coke on and off, the only think i ever really got hooked on was nicotine.

If you are disputing the claim tha nicotine is one of he most addictive substances in this world you will have to dispute the ENTIRE medical community, there are no disagreements in the medical community on this issue.

One thing to remember too, heroin, cocain, meth will still give you a kick after you got addictec, when you are addicted to nicotine it will not give you a kick, but if you don't get it you will have problems, it is a filthy habit, there is no upside to it, it makes your clothes and breath stink, it degrades your performance in every way possible, your skin ages faster and no amount of bleach will keep those yellow teeth white for any longer period of time.

thats a good point. We give the poor people welfare, which they use on smokes, which we spent money on them to eduvate them that smoking is bad ( DARE programs ets. ) , then we spend money on them for medical expenses related to smoking. I say dont ban it, but dont pay for med expenses either. If you smoke, you are disqualified from medicare. Thats my opinion. Same with drinking realted injuries (if you were the one drinking ) Victims (maybe their parents smoked) ofcourse should be taken care of.

11-17-2004 Actor Vincent D'Onofrio Back in Hospital

Vincent D'Onofrio, star of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," was back in a hospital Tuesday after fainting for the second time in a week.

D'Onofrio was hospitalized for two days last week when he fainted after rehearsing a strenuous scene that included climbing for the New York-based NBC drama. He had been expected to return to work Tuesday.

But he fainted again late Monday at his New York home and returned to the hospital for further observation and testing, series spokeswoman Pam Ruben Golum said.

Initial tests did not reveal any health problems, she said.

Series producer NBC Universal Television Studio said D'Onofrio, who plays New York police Detective Robert Goren, was not in ill health before he fainted the first time.
==========================================================
I'd dispute this claim of not in "ill health" before fainted first time.

The guy is a smoker. Nuf said.

ok, I smoke...I know I shouldn't. I agree tho no smoking in malls and such, BUT they want to ban smoking in BARS??? Are you kidding me? Let me see the stats on smoking and driving deaths vs. drinking and driving deaths.A bit dramatic? Yes, but I think you see where I am going with this.
If it wasn't for all the whiny poor-me's out there this would not really be an issue.
I know smoking is bad for me, but I am polite. If you are around me, in my car, etc. I ask if it is cool that I smoke. I do not push my 2nd hand smoke on others.
If you are going to ban smoking, ban alcohol as well. What is the difference? I love drinking as much as the next person BUT it takes time to get smoke related illnesses......one night of drinking can end your life or someone else's, right? Why the sudden push on smokers? Maybe all the whiners that smoked for 50 years and all of a sudden realized they had cancer? OOOH! we didn't know it was bad for us....PLEEEEESE! You are lighting something up and inhaling smoke......! Ok...I am done with my rant.

Absolutely. Smoking is not only a danger to those who do it, but to those of us who have to live in the environment with the smokers.

We have a right to clean, fresh air, and smoking should be outlawed.
