<< he said nothing about forcing anybody to do anything, he wanted information so he would have a better argument. To answer the question: if a pregnant friend of mine was endangering the life of her child by eating poorly I would have a discussion with her about it. If it was a matter of economics I would go so far as to help pay for a better diet. However, your argument here is flawed, obesity is a condition which cannot be changed immediately. Even as an addiction smoking marijuana can be stopped much more easily.

Ah, but obesity, just like pot smoking, is something a person can work to correct immedietly, if they so choose. The point I was making is that WE control what we do with our bodies, not YOU or anyone else. Until some point in the pregnancy is passed (the point set by lawyers and other busybodies, not nature) where the fetus becomes a separate entity worthy of it's own constitutional rights, the mother can do whatever she wants. SHE will have to face the consequences of her actions eventually; one of the reasons why we formed this country was so that we could be free to do what we wanted to do without undue influence by the government.
<< my cousin was an alcoholic and me and my other cousins didn't allow him to sh!t his life down the drain by waiting around until he figured it out for himself, let me ask you this, what if your best friend didn't make it at all, while you were too worried about meddling in his business what if he killed himself in a car accident or killed someone else, everythings ok i guess cause he would learn his lesson then right

Yes, maybe he would have. The funniest part of this whole debate is that everyone has this line that they draw in the sand about policing other person's behaviour. My opinion is, what right do WE have drawing that line at all? I am waiting for someone to say that since she will be using OUR tax money to have the baby, then we have a right to control how she conducts her pregnancy.
Please, someone jump down that slippery slope! Please!
