This. As long as we can minimise or eliminate negative externalities I have no problem with people doing to themselves whatever they want. I support a smoking ban in public places so I can visit a bar or restaurant without being exposed to the filthy shit, but what someone does in their own home doesn't bother me.

Here in NZ of course we have government-paid healthcare. However my understanding is that our very high taxes on cigarettes more than pay for the marginal healthcare costs of smokers, so that is not a real issue.
