So.. about Fallout 3

I felt like I was just going along normally but after the ending rolled I was

To me the game world just didn't lend itself to exploration. It's a wasteland and I treated it as such. I was so focused on my mission at hand that helping Jim Bo Jones with some nonsense seemed so trivial. And there were dangerous mutants and bandits everywhere!

I put 70 hrs into Oblivion and more than that into Morrowind so this was unexpected. I think the Fallout 3 game world worked too well: I wanted to get the hell out of there!

Some parts that I really liked:

Killing that douche in Megaton that wants to sell info about your dad for 100 caps THEN 300 caps. And then defending myself and fleeing Megaton forever.

Trying to find a town after fleeing Megaton and being scared and lost and almost dying the whole time.

Killing the entire camp of slavers because my Repair and Electronics skills were too low for the other quest options.

Saving Red from Super Mutants, then enslaving her, and then freeing her, but then accidentally blowing her head off with the screwdriver and her collar.

So yeah, fun game. I'll probably go back and dick around some with my awesome weapons and armor :beer:

After I finished the game I loaded a previous save and spent 10+ hours exploring the rest of the wastes and just having a good time in general. I enjoyed it. Ending was BS, but I still enjoyed the exploration aspect.

I got to level 20 before the end, then downloaded the level 30 cap mod and got to 21 or 22 before finishing off the main quest. Then I looked online and grabbed a few of the hidden weapons I missed, messed around, and haven't touched it since, including the expansion content.

This game was just a big dissapointment to me. Everyone on here said it was good and all reviews said it was good but boy was I let down. Voice acting sucked, felt no connection to any characters, wandering and wandering got boring, everything was too easy to kill later in the game, retardedly low level cap, ending sucked, also I didn't feel like I was in a real wasteland. It didn't suck me in at all like other RPG's have. I guess the hype killed it for me. I expected too much.

After playing Morrowind for a couple years, I wasnt too happy with Oblivion but managed to get into it and have some fun.
Fallout 3 was a lot less fun. I understand the setting was supposed to be void and empty. Thats fine for a story but it sucks for a game.

I hated Morrowind (a LOT), loved Oblivion, and enjoyed Fallout 3 (just not as much as Oblivion). I have yet to finish the main story in any of the three though.

Aw come on! Liam neeson (dad) and malcolm macdowell (president eden) were great! You werent sad when dad died?!

Overall i liked fallout 3, it was really fun, up there with mass effect and GTA IV in that i really didnt want to stop playing and go to sleep. I played oblivion before and it was ok... levelling system was a PITA and im not a big fan of having to DL mods to change things, doom 3 flashlight is where i draw the line really. Oblivion was alright, fallout 3 was much better i really enjoyed it. Shame dad died... but whatever it happens.

Fallout 3 was fun, but the end sucked, the level cap sucked. I heard from my friend that you couldn't "continue" playing once you got to a certain point, so I did my adventuring through the wastelands ahead of time.

Morrowind was greatness, followed by Oblivion's greatness. I played through Morrowind GotY ed. and beat everything but Tribunal, which I heard is pretty good too. Alas, I sold my old Xbox with my game saves so I am not going to get it on pc and play through the game again just to see that.

IMHO, I think ES3 and 4 are the pinnacle of single player rpg's atleast for my $ they are. I would be willing to invest WoW kinda money and time in a game if they would make an ES MMORPG. I would play WoW, but I can't stand turn based combat.

Oblivion did it right in my mind. Each skill develops slowly as you use it, or you can pay for training/read a "rare" book. Fighting is in real time... Dodge, parry, spin... Doing! (ala Daffy duck)

I think I spent about 80-90 hours, but I did practically every quest, and explored every inch of the map. Exploration was fun just because it was a wasteland for me. The world has been spammed with nukes, and you're alive in a Mad Max world, that can't not be cool. Exploring Washington took me weeks.

I just wished the leveling system was slower/better. Think I maxed out after 40 hours, so I played most of the game with the same, unchanged character.

Yeah, I am using the level cap increaser mod as well as a mod that makes leveling take longer, and one that makes increasing skills over 100 points actually do some good.

Not to defend him, but Beev, I think most peeps playing through the MQ could have seen it coming a mile away. I found the story line in this game very predictable, one exception being that I would have predicted about 20+ more hours of game play before the end!

C style, maybe I am mistaken. There someone here at my office trying to get me to play WoW, but the way they described it left me to believe it was sort of turn based. Something about certain attacks having counters that must refill before you can use them again. That makes sense for spells, and maybe... maybe I could see it representing fatigue in a melee strike, but I like the way Oblivion handles attacking, so unless WoW is exactly like Oblivion in terms of attacking, count me out.

I'm completely lost in this game, I have no clue what I'm supposed to do. It's too open for me. I spend too much time just wandering around shooting shit or beating shit to death with whatever blunt instrument I have on hand. There's a story? missions I'm supposed to do? I tried to blow up megaton, but now that the bomb is armed, I don't know how I'm supposed to set it off.. where the fuck is tenpenny tower?

also, it takes way too many shots to the face to kill people.. I shouldn't have to shoot people 4 times in the head for them to die..

Hi Mxyzptlk, there are mods for damage increase/balance I can direct you to if you're so inclined. Also, if you haven't told Mr. Burke that you armed the bomb, do that and then I can help you find Tenpenny Tower. It's pretty far from Megaton, so be armed and ready. Once you get there you can casually detonate the warhead and watch the night sky glow, and feel your karma plummet.

Good game, I find it a lot better designed than its predecessors. I had heard the main quest was very short, so I am having fun exploring and doing the other quests, which certainly seems to keep me busier than the MQ. Whenever I get lost a simple look at the quest screen and the map puts me back on track to whatever I want to do (click "show location" on your quest screen mxyzptlk, it helps).

I didn't really enjoy Oblivion, I found it a nice looking game but extremely dull. Character interaction was unspeakably painful, and there was SO much of it. I definitely preferred Fallout 3. The best parts for me:

- it does not suffer from the hideous consolitis of Oblivion. Yes!
- voice acting, while far from great, is orders of magnitude better than Oblivion.
- sense of humour
- I can always find something to do if I get bored with a particular quest
- landscape and interiors are more varied
- Very nice graphics
- visually beautiful design (the PipBoy, intro screen, art, etc.)
- the action can get pretty good!

Morrowind -> AWESOMENESS

Oblivion -> Shitty game vanilla..with mods it becomes decent.

FO3 -> I would rate this higher than Oblivion. Despite the bleak setting, the game actually felt more alive than Oblivion.

Thing that annoyed me in FO3:

1. I wasn't really upset when they announced children were unkillable. I expected as much from Bethesda (based on what they said in the past about children in their games). However, why much a WHOLE FUCKING TOWN OUT OF WHINY BITCHY KIDS WHEN YOU CAN'T SHUT THEM UP A SHOT TO THE FACE.

2. Of course, the ending.

3. I never felt like my character was important. Everyone treated him like some punk.
