Anybody else having issues connecting to servers? It seems like one out of 10 will actually get me in. Otherwise I timeout. These are low ping server to me so I am not sure wtf is going on.

Quite annoying imo.

Hey Guys -

Wanted to give you a heads up if you are experiencing some issues with 'Connection Time Out' or other misc server errors at the moment.

This is related to some minor issues with Activision's Master Server causing some packet lost and connection errors. This is currently being addressed as we're going to move over all those responsibilities to a new non-virtual server we're setting up here at Infinity Ward however keep in mind it will take some time for the DNS to update for everyone and propagate the changes so you may continue to see some issues until it has fully propagated to each of you guys.

So the MP aspect is similar to BF2? So many games coming out this month Geez. I was limiting myself to UT3 and Crysis, but the way Crysis played on my system, Im thinking maybe Ill go another route.

No, it's not really BF2. BF2 has much bigger, more open maps. This is mostly CQB. I suppose the class system and the Domination gametype are like BF2, though.

No, I have been a BF2 addict the past couple years (1200 hours played) and this is nothing like it. This game is all ground combat, there is no commander or squads. The ground combat however is a lot better because of the environment. Could only wish that BF2 looked as good as this.

I will admit that I dislike normal servers though. Can't stand having to empty an entire magazine into someone to kill them. I play on the hardcore (realism) servers.

Yeah it's kinda funny, I started this thread a while ago... and I just beat this game Saturday night. It's by far the best CoD game i've ever played. You don't do everything by yourself because your teammates aren't completely idiotic. The only thing that annoyed me had to be the dogs! Even if you pressed melee like a maniac they still ripped my throat out. Otherwise, a very solid, awesome game.

Im really on the fence about purchasing this game. I only buy games based on their MP aspect of the game. For those of you who already own the game, do you see yourself playing the MP for a very long time, or getting bored by it?

It's well worth it. Very fun multiplayer. I haven't touched BF2 since I got this game.

Multiplayer as I noticed in the Xbox 360 version takes a bit of time to get used to, but thats mainly because its very important to know the maps in order to effectively use whatever fighting style you take.

Finally tried the demo today. It's pretty good, very true to CoD 1 demo I played years ago... Same old hordes and hordes of 'soft' enemies that die pretty quickly. Unfortunately, it isn't my cup of tea. A bit too scripted for my liking. I'll think about it when the price comes down, but that's what I said about CoD1 and 2; still don't have them.

I just finished the SP campaign, having picked up the game on Friday evening. I'm a bit disappointed at the brevity of the SP game. Hopefully, the MP game has longer legs.

I played the demo and got the game for MP. The SP is very fun, I but I just dont like playing vs bots. Graphics are AMAZING. The game play is pretty basic, even a little bit boring. Another nice thing is that if your team is losing, you don't feel like you are getting base raped (usually).

I thought it was one of the better FPS shooters out this year. Unbelievable graphics and visuals. It made HL2 and Bioshock look like crap IMO. Life like out doors, bright and vibrant textures, and the character models so detailed and accurate. They really scored a good presentation with this game. The gameplay is hooking. Duck for cover, find a good area of attack, and keep pushing forward without getting killed. They break the gameplay apart perfectly by making you do several sub-missions in-between, and sometimes those submissions have submissions of their own. For example, flanking a AAA gun so you can call in air support to pertect an M1A1 tank. The countless spawning AI does kind of get a little too unjustified. Clearing out a room with a few grenades and spray fire, only to have them respawn again right before you enter the door is a little aggravating but also keeps you immersed with pressure to push forward.

It's just so damn short. Every mission had me in awe, but they could of added some more search and destroy missions and maybe even some retrieval missions.

To tell you the truth the SP game is so short I could actually recommend this game for bargain bin only. It's packed with good stuff, just don't blink. It's just a damn shame.

I would say the few games I was abled to play (hopefully they get the time out issue fixed), was enjoyable. I like the perks you get when you earn higher ranks.

What I don't like is the gernade launcher on the m16 for the SAS. If you're actually fighting on the ultranationist team, don't bother with indoor attacks unless you're up against snipers or sub-machine gunners.

But with the few games I have played, I can see myself getting bored with it only after a few days, maybe weeks.

You can always play on harder difficulty to made the game a bit longer. I played on veteran difficulty and I thought it was just perfect length.

i can see myself playin mp for awhile on this game, unless FOW in january blows me away.

i am a huge infantry fan and this is just great.

but as i stated earlier, with larger servers many maps become twitch fests, i wish that with release there were some bigger maps as well but if you stick to 20 slot max servers you should be fine. for competition, 5v5 and 6v6 will be killer. and i am sure some bigger maps will be coming out from the community which i cant wait for. i wouldnt mind some bigger more open maps to mix it up.

you have to use xfire though, as much as i hate EA for some shit they pull, they actually make a darn nice in-game browser. valve too. this one is a joke.

also, the lack of being able to make squads so you can rendevous with your boys nicely is a bit of a nuisance.

but if you are a fan of infantry warfare, and especially urban warfare - as i am - this game seriously kicks ass.

i only bought this game for MP as well, i played the SP for like 20 min just to get the barest grasp of the game physics and feel before loadin up a server.

this is my first cod game.

Second that. In the Chernobyl Level, I had to stop playing and gape at the surroundings at times...it was so beautiful. The MP maps are also superbly detailed, especially the middle-eastern ones. At 1920x1200 and everything maxed, the visuals in this game are jawdropping.

Bioshock graphics really get on your nerves after a couple of levels...gloomy, dark and boring. I am in the arboretum level now, and I am on the verge of completely quitting the game, since I have COD4 MP to keep me occupied until Crysis lands in my hands.

You haven't gotten any of the upgrades and you're probably competing against those with upgrades. It's not exactly fair but it makes you better. Try playing on a "hardcore" server. I have the P90 with a silencer and it just mows people down. I also like the shotgun unlock that you get.

Try the different game types too. I'm not a TDM or DM person myself. Headquarters and Search & Destroy keep me quite entertained. I spent all day on the game today and yesterday. I can't find myself doing that on BF2, I get bored after a couple hours on that.

i played on one server yestrday and it was just a nade/m203 fest. i swear 90% of my deaths were from an m203. even though you only get 1 nade and 2 m203 nades they are just friggin everywhere.

what really sucks is that for some reason, i never see an explosion animation or an explosion sound when i get hit with an m203. i'll eb running along and then i'll be dead. the only way i know what killed is by the killcam.

Been playing this all weekend and my opinion is this is a great FPS game. The maps, simply beautiful. Amazing how detailed everythign is but it is silky smooth on my system at 1600X1200.

The MP is fun but can be harsh on noobs. There are times when I am getting rocked within seconds of spawn. And wondering wtf is going on hehe. I like the HQ maps because they seem to have a good objective. I tried team domination? Seemed like it was too random and unorganized for my taste.

One thing I love is the ability to shoot through some objects. God it is nice to see somebody duck behind a garbage can and have the ability to shoot them through the garbage can. One of the more annoying things in previous games were the ability for anything to stop bullets.

Player models are simply sick. They look so lifelike!

The only thing missing from this game is deformable terrain. The ability to blow holes in the side of a building would be awesome. But other than that, simply a great game.

With the deep impact perk, almost nothing will stopa bullet.

The metal parts of cars, double thick walls, most appliances (washers, dryers, etc), dumpsters, and 50 gallon drums seem to be the only things that will stop a bullet from someone with deep impact.

On that countdown map (the one with missile silos), bullets will even go through those metal blast shields and the silo covers!

If you don't have deep impact, its pretty limited to thin wood and thin metal.

Those are all things I have personally tested. I haven't tested everything in the game, but I don't think there's much more to test.

yeah the noob tube is pretty strong. only 2 shots with it but if u have some aiming skill with it you can do some real damage.

they will probably tone it down in a patch.

The thing that pisses me off is how the game crashes every 30 minutes or so. And that it takes forever to connect to a server. And sometimes the game just won't start. But the single player and multiplayer are both awesome once they get going.
