Arguably the best netminder in the world. And a phenomenal defense. Exactly who on the Swedish squad do you think isn't any good? Sedin? Erriksson? Kronwall? Steen? Alfredsson?

When did I say 'not any good'? I said they were not as good as Canada, and they're not. Sedin is a great player, he is not in the same class as Crosby (nobody is). Erriksson is a great defenseman, he's not in the same class as Doughty or Keith. Alex Steen is having a career year, he is not in Corey Perry's class.

It's the same thing the Americans ran into. The US had a great team, but Zach Parise is just not as good as Sidney Crosby, and on and on.

You're right about one thing, Lundqvist as the best goaltender in the world is very arguable.

Eight years ago means nothing, that team had Petr Forsberg and Markus Naslund on it.

Canada is better on paper right now. Sweden is better on the ice right now.

IMO, Can, USA, Russia, all played well below their potential. None really got a chance to gel as a team like the Swedes have. Keep in mind that this Swedish team got together last year to win the World Championship. Most of the best US and Canadian players' NHL playoff runs lasted longer than their national teams did.

Everyone in this thread thought the US was playing better than Canada, scroll up and see for yourself. How did that work out? Canada is better on paper for a reason.

I'm not saying the Swedes have no chance, I'm simply saying it's up to Canada to win it or lose it.

He actually made some really good plays. No points of course, but he actually looked pretty dangerous with the puck at times and made some decent defensive plays. He also drew a lot of attention, so others could get open. At least that's how it looked to my eyes.

Getzlaf/Perry/Benn was way better than Crosby/Kunitz/Bergeron. Crosby's line just rolled up and down, had problems establishing in the offensive zone.

No doubt, I was praising Benn earlier. Getzlaf and Benn were amazing.

People that think the Kim was robbed don't understand the scoring system. The Russian had a substantially more technical program. That's why she Kim lost . The margin was more or less the difference in their starting technical scores.

Skating clean doesn't mean as much as having a higher starting technical score. Fuck the men's gold medalist still won and I believe he fell twice in his free skate.

The technical score difference was about 5 points.

The final LP difference was also about 5 points. I'm no ice skating expert, but I truly fail to see how the quality of execution from both skaters was roughly equal. I won't say Kim skated flawlessly but it was extremely clean and artistic. OTOH I wouldn't say it was rigged or highly robbery either.

The men's Gold medalist is a bad example because the Silver medalist also had a rough skate. Speaking of which, the Canadian curse is no joke.

During the game I texted to a friend that it looked like Canada had six skaters on the ice. No matter what zone the puck was in, the Canadians always had more players around the puck than the Americans did.
