The government doesn't decide how much you as an individual make. If you are unhappy with your salary you are free to pursue other employment opportunities. Clearly the government is able to find enough teachers at $31000 to satisfy educational needs, it is their duty to minize this cost and the burden on taxpayers.

Are you serious?? If you work for the Government, or for some entity that is supported through Government funds, THE GOVERNMENT DETERMINES HOW MUCH YOU MAKE!! It's as simple as that. And actually, no, they're not able to find enough teachers at $31,000 to satisfy educational needs. That's one of the major problems with education. Ever heard of the 20-30 students to teacher ratios? That's a result of a lack of enough teachers. Why is there a lack? Because they're not paid enough!!
Who says there's a shortage of teachers? You? The teacher's union and their representatives trying to boost their pay and drain taxpayers?

If you don't like it, quit. Or are you saying that a teacher with 20 years of experience can't find another job?

I don't know how the shortage is in your state. You don't have your profile active so that I can see what state you live in. Who says when there is a shortage? The state, and the teacher's union, as well as parents. And yes, I'm sure every teacher's union and their representatives are out to get you and your pathetic amount of money. After all, it's all about YOU, isn't it. Heaven forbid that people might actually be doing their job and might actually be honest in the assessment that they make.

Sure, they can find another job. Let's see, what is a teacher with 20 years of experience qualified to do for a living? Oh yeah, TEACH!! What do you expect them to do? Go work at freakin 7-eleven?

If you have a problem with the amount of money that you are paying in taxes, then take it up with the government. But the most obvious thing that you have shown is that you don't have a clue what you are talking about and that the only person you are concerned with is yourself. You don't care about the quality of education that your children receive, if you even have any, nor do you care about what type of living they'll be able to have once they get out of school. Since you naively believe that teachers across the world could just quit and nothing would happen, you can't possibly have a clue of how the world actually functions.

In the end, you have shown no understand of the world and no proof that you even perform some function in the world. Most of the people must be correct. You are still at home living off mommy and daddy, aren't you?

Nonsense. If the state believed there was a shortage of teachers they would hire more teachers, and if they could not hire more teachers at the current salary then they would boost pay.

Sure, they can find another job. Let's see, what is a teacher with 20 years of experience qualified to do for a living? Oh yeah, TEACH!! What do you expect them to do? Go work at freakin 7-eleven?

Publish textbooks, do research in various fields. Work at a private or parochial school. There are plenty of opportunities.

I will take it up with the government, one way to do so is to discourage the raising of salaries of teachers. You're the one naive enough to believe that teachers would strike all over the country and toss away their great deal of benefits and short workyears.

Schools don't have unlimited funding. Many schools can't afford increasing salaries or hiring more teachers so they are forced to increase classroom size to unreasonable numbers. I live near Trenton (NJ) and the schools there can barely afford to pay salaries and maintenance costs, let alone classroom supplies.

Oh and how profitable do you think textbooks are? Ever looked at how many people are required to write them? Also research requires funding or a job, and an elementary school teacher is unlikely going to qualify for either.

Lies and deception. Poor districts like Trenton get plenty of state subsidies. In, fact, NJ is the highest state in the nation in spending per pupil, and Trenton is the 2nd highest district in the country.

Text

Of course all that money goes to waste because the people in Trenton and the students there are lazy. I went to school in a neighboring district, in the same county. Our district spend some $10-11k per pupil and had average SATs in the 1200s.

If teachers are unqualified for higher paying positions they should probably stick with their current job.

Wow, you really are living in a bubble. Teachers have striked on several occasions, in several different states, as a result of pay.

Do you also have the same opinion for other public workers, such as policemen, firemen, social workers, etc.? Are they all usless, easily replaced, and not worth the money they currently make, much less any more?

I noticed you still didn't answer, nor did you quote, the final question. Still not man enough to admit you're still living at home, aren't you? Let's see if you answer it this time. I'll even post it again for you in case you missed it.
