congratz deltoro, feels good to get rid of that pesky problem huh?

i had my netgear on an abit mobo prior to getting my new sys and it would 'die' after a few min of surfing the web. i had two comps going through my linksys and the other card was fine(3com). its amazing how that card caused some many problems and i thought it was everything else but that.

Yes, that problem was very annoying. I thought it was a bad motherboard, and almost RMA'd it. I am glad now I did not...

I have an Epox EP-8K7A with Netgear FA312 and am having the same restart problem... It is a very nice NIC; I'll just press the restart button instead of getting another one. Does the FA310 cause the same problem?

I replaced my netgear 311 with a Linksys LNE100TX. I'm still having the problem. It now restarts correctly after BIOS changes, but windows still doesn't shut down. Any other ideas?

Hmm. My shutdown works OK. When I disabled ACPI in the BIOS I had to hold down the off button for several seconds before my PC turned off also. Is your ACPI disabled? In Windows, under Device Manager | Computer, does it read something like "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC?" Warning: If you disable/enable ACPI after Windows is installed, prepare to reinstall your OS...

Failure to shutdown sounds more like a possible ACPI issue than NIC/chipset conflict; what happens when you remove the Linksys NIC? If your system still won't shutdown without a NIC present, then it can't be the NIC's fault...

I have ACPI enabled in BIOS and it appears in device manager. Now that I've replaced the netgear NIC, it restarts correctly but still won't shut down. It goes into its "semi-off" state. The fans are on, but CD drives have power (will eject), the USB does NOT have power (at least the LEDs on my mouse are off), and the monitor thinks the computer is off.

Any more ideas?
