softwares for tracking customers

what softwares are useful to store your customer's info and retrieve by their phone number, ss# or last name

for example, i run a video store just by giving their phone number i can look up the customer's information, if they rent i can store the info also etc.....

You should be able to set up a simple DB using any M$ product and a half hour of effort.

quickbooks (accounting) or Act 6.0 (contacts) might suffice
both are around $200 or so I think
