I just got this board from Newegg and I am not sure if it is a problem at all...but any help would be much appreciated.

Here is what I have.....

Soltek SL-NV400
XP1800 tbred B
512mb Crucial pc7200
80gb wd se
PNY GF3 Ti200

The problem i am having seems very minor but annoying.

After I first installed XP and tried to install the Nvidia drivers for the video card, I got a blank screen with a blinking cursor. It somehow got past it and installed the drivers ok. Afterwards...I noticed that everytime I go into the video setting or during the boot up process...in the Win XP screen....the monitor would flash a blue screen really quickly then go back to the normal screen...it flashes for a faction of a sec. At that point, I was running the system at 166FSB and default multiplier. I thought it might have been overheating so i tried to lower the FSB to 133. I'm still having the same issues. I'm lost as to what I can do to fix this problem.

I am afraid that I may have gotten a bad board....when I received my board....I noticed that the stickers that cover the AGP, CPU, and other sockets seemed like they were peeled off and put back on....i.e - the corners of the stickers were crumpled and messed up liek someone peeled the stickers using that corner.

Can anyone tell me what might be the cause of my problem and how I might be able to fix it...or should I just RMA the board?

Thanks in advance for the help.

did you make sure to install the nforce motherboard drivers and directx 9 before installing the videocard drivers?

if so and you still have this problem i would definitely RMA the board. when my soltek came the stickers were hard as nuts to remove =)

Yes. I installed the nforce drivers first. After I was able to get on the net, I went on the nvidia website to install the video drivers. I haven't touched DX9 yet.

Im just trying to narrow it to the board and not the Video card.

Thanks.

First, never install the OS on an overclocked system, always install everything at default values and use prime95 torture test, memtest86, and/or your favorite stability testing suite to determine everything is stable and functional before overclocking. Now you have no clue wether the issue is due to a corrupted install due to the overclock, if the ram was flakey to begin with, if the power supply is flakey, ect, consequently, the troubleshooting process is muddled up. To check the BSOD go to the system and application logs in the event viewer under adminstrative tools. Double click on the errors and it'll show the details and a hyperlink for the help&support explaining what it is and often have a link to the knowledge base article related to it, if there is one. If it shows an error related to Nv4_disp.dll, go here and download and try several different sets of older detonators to see if it clears up. What power supply are you using?

If the event logs show other errors and you can't pin them down, post them here and we'll see what's what Also, if all else fails, I would suggest before RMAing the board that you do a clean install with everything at default values, and use the setup and install guide I posted here Good luck and post back with an update.

Dapunisher, thanks for the headsup on the install goof. I will try reinstalling the OS under the default values. I did notice the nv4_disp.dll prob so i tried using the latest two detonator drivers but didnt bother to go past it.

One thing I did notice was that when I uninstalled the detonator drivers and the system was running under the windows drivers with an unknown display, the system didnt have any problems. I think it may be some sort of a display driver problem of some sort.

I am hoping that a clean install will fix this problem. The power supply im using is a Powmax 400w.

I'll let you know how the reinstall goes.

Thanks.

Certainly sounds like the vid drivers are at fault, this time install say a 30 series set of Dets and see if the problem returns.

Im in the process of resinstalling the OS and everything. I cleared the CMOS and put everything back to the default values on the BIOS.

I will try starting with the older detonator drivers and see if that helps. If it doesn't...I may just have to RMA the board and see if its a problem with the AGP slot.

Thanks.

I've just reinstalled everything and everything was working fine until I installed the nvidia detonator drivers again.

As soon as I installed the video drivers, the system did the blinking cursor thing and i kept getting the BSOD. The system just keeps rebooting now on its own.

The card was working fine in my old system so I don't think the video card is bad. I may have to RMA the board and see if that helps.

Any other suggestions?

I have this board and it runs rock solid at a 200mhz FSB barton overclock. I think it is definitley a problem with the vid card.
