To be quite frank about it, the dems will win the presidency by a large margin in 2008 NO MATTER who runs at the top of the dem ticket (e.g., Hilary Clinton, James Carvel, Charles Manson, etc.). Our economy will be so F'ed up that the dems are likely to win the presidency, house and senate.

W will continue the repub pattern of tax cuts to the wealthy & oil/drug companies, with big spending on defense and balloning deficits.

The pattern has been the same with Reagan, Bush Sr. and W and is unlikely to change.

If America has not figured out what it gets with the repubs...they truely are ignorant (which I believe to be the case).

In plain English Bush has the first majority vote (>50%) since 1988.
All that means is that there were no third party candidates getting votes this year. IIRC, in '92 and '96, Perot got better than 10% of the popular each time, and in '00 Nader got some 5%. This year, all the 3rd party candidates combined got only 1% of the popular vote.
That Bush got the majority is not really a big win for him, but a major loss for the 3rd parties.

I think one this is clear from this election, Democrats need to move to the RIGHT, not Republicans to the LEFT. People need to stop thinking that McCain will get the nod in 2008, he won't.. He's not conservative enough.. I think however a large number of people think that a moderate Republican appeals to them.. Instead of hoping for a moderate Republican, you need to find a conservative democrat to run... Hilary isn't going to win it. You need to stop nominating the hard core lefties, and push toward the middle.. then you will steal enough Republican votes to win.
Who's a hardcore lefty? Not Kerry...and Edwards was even further to the right. You fail to understand the people like Nader or Cobb represent the left. The Democratic party is between the GOP and that left.

The GOP is averaging about where Cheney sits. It's very far to the right from where it was during Reagan and even the former Pres. Bush. The neoconservative influence and the Christian influence is undeniable.

I was just hoping to see Corky run for president. I figure he'd be a good follow up.

I agree there. I think if the Dems had nominated Gephardt they would've taken the White House.

The only reason I can think of is because he has issues with affairs.

Bush will have a successful 4 more years. The Democrats have nobody I can think of that can pose a significant challenge, while the Republicans have J. Bush, McCain, Guliani, and others ready to go.

Face it, the Republicans are simply better politicians.

Yeah with almost half the country voting against him!
As opposed to 55% of the country voting agianst Clinton?

Heh, it wasn't too long ago they were't looking so hot. The '92 and '96 elections were good to Clinton

4 years in the future is a long time for you to be counting the Republican chickens just yet

As far as Clinton goes, it's true more of the country thought he was the wrong man for the job than think Bush is the wrong man now. But remember that with Clinton, they couldn't decide who would be better

Agreed. IMO clinton was the only good politician the Dems have had in my lifetime, with a slightly left of center social viewpoint. The Democrats should be trying to find someone like him, instead Gore shuns him in '00 and they choose a radical leftist in '04.

Yup. This is what is about. That OR ditch the social justice issues and try to get fiscal conservatives on board.

Why would they need fiscal conservatives? The Bush administration doesn't have any fiscal conservatives either, and they were reelected.
