Some performance issues...

...with UT2004. My framerate is OK, but levels take forever to load. Also my controls lag in single player, but not in online multiplayer. You'd think it'd be the other way around. Specs in sig. I have the latest chipset drivers from NVIDIA's site, DX9.0b, Detonators 44.03 (best performance for my card), latest drivers for my mouse and keyboard, and I've done the cachesizemeg mod to 128, and have preload player skins turned off, which I was told would improve performance. I thought it had something to do with the fact that my system is older, but I know someone who has a Tbird 1.3GHz and PC133 SDRAM with a graphics card like mine and his performance is pretty good (levels load pretty fast for him). I find that odd.

I ran the game at full graphics and it ran ok but not great. Lowered it to medium levels and the game fly?s except when I'm in the middle of a frag fest.

I think for the system you have you shouldn't expect great performance. Sorry...

My performance seems fine as far as framerate goes. It's the level load times that take too long.

Well my sys loads levels in like 30-60sec which seems slow to me but that will change when I upgrade my sys. What would you say the load time is?

A minute or so.....but other people I know don't take that long.

How fast is your hard drive, 5400 or 7200rpm?
Also when is the last time you've defragmented your hard drive?

7200RPM, 8MB cache, a few days ago.

Found out what my problem was. I just need more RAM. Even the guy with the old system had 768MB.
