So i am slowly gettin the pictures from our road trip up, here are some of the pictures we took, about 1/10th of the pictures. In most of the pictures you will see our car. We did this because most people just take pictures of the scenery, and have no real way to tie it back to their trip. Well, the car is the anchor and made the trip even better.

I love the NAT, and help them set up shows. Interesting to see that the tourists still stop by!

I live in Amarillo...

Did you paint your name on the Cadillac Ranch? You are supposed to.

If you want to be alone, winter. If you want to be crowded with european tourists, summer. It's amazing but you would not believe the number of french, swedish, and other europwan tourists come to our mother road. To them, that is america. it's kind of sad that americans don't have that kind of love affair with 66. It's a great trip and the people are amazing.

Oh, in summer you can catch some of the big old car cruises and shows.

i actually painted the 1966 mustang three prongs on the side with red and silver, to mimic our car. I have a pic of that somewhere admist all the rest, i just haven't sorted them out. My shoes are in a bag still covered with manure from walking out there.

Awsome.
The Blue Swallow Motel would be funny, if the "blue" on the sign burned out.

Well if you ever plan to motor west
Just take my way that's the highway that's the best
Get your kicks on Route 66

Well it winds from Chicago to L.A.
More than 2000 miles all the way
Get your kicks on Route 66

Well it goes from St. Louie down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty
You'll see Amarillo and Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernadino

Would you get hip to this kindly tip
And go take that California trip
Get your kicks on Route 66

:music:

Could someone explain to me the attraction of Route 66? I've read the Wiki entry and all but I'm curious what makes Route 66 more popular for scenic tours than other non-interstate highways. Is it that the road stretches halfway across the country?

If you are not a person who appreciates nostalgia, then it will not appeal to you.

Nice album. The whole time I was looking through it I had the Nelson Riddle tune going in my head. Driving Route 66 is one of 2 roads I want to travel end to end someday. The other is US 50 from Ocean City, MD to Sacramento, CA.

Right on. Amarillo has a nice mix of hick and chic, and that place is a good example.

How do you feel about road salt getting into every crease and crevice of that car?

i'm of the opinion "if you don't drive it, why keep it."

the mustang is as good as any daily driver, just a little bit older, and unlike new cars, appreciating slowly.

we drove 55-60 most of the way, sometimes the road in certain alignments was rougher, maybe 35-45.

along the highway, there was a good mix of gas stations, so we had no problem getting gas, so premium gas would not be a problem.
