Sony CRX0811 CDRW - good burner?

I can get it for $180 CND ($120 USD). Has anyone used Sony burners before? What are they like? Thanks.

I've got an HP burner which is really a rebadged sony & have no problems with it. pity burnproof wasn't included though!

I just bought a PLEXTOR 16x10x40 from www.newegg.com for about $6.00 more.
Plextor is the best of the burners.

I can get the Plextor one too but for some reason it's really expensive in Canada, $350 CDN ($233 USD). I don't want to spend that much on a burner. I'd like to spend about $200 CDN ($133 USD).

I just looked again and there's a Creative 121032 CDRW w/ burnproof for $220 CDN ($146 USD). Should I get that one instead?

Hi Muerto,

Sony burners are very reliable, quiet and solid.
The 0811 is a new improved version of the CRX140E.
They have added burnproof function (anti buffer under-run system) but reduced the on board buffer from 4 to 2 Mb.
I have the 140E for about a year now and I'm very happy with it.
However, nowadays it might be regarded a bit slow by some people, with it's 8x4x32 speed.
I find it fast enough for my needs.
