I want to like this and convert to Sony, but I can't. The whole (original) point was to draw the prices down a bit. But I'm not totally seeing it. The original A7 is super cheap for FF. But I think Sony figured out they have a market for high end mirrorless cameras. I bought a 6D for the interim, but after seeing the 70D, the 7D II, and the latest Rebels getting the dual pixel AF treatment, I have no doubt the 5D and 6D successors get the same capabilities. Which kind of takes away of the advantages of the mirrorless AF in live view and video. I don't care about the weight. I used to be a full time wedding photographer carrying two cameras onmmr for 6-8 hours a wedding. At that point, you just man up and build the stamina for that.
I wouldnt enjoy the tiny batteries the Sony's have. If was more of a traveker, I might think different. I think the whole DSLR vs Mirrorless is blown out of proportion. They both are going to gain from technology.
My last video shoot (band single) used the 7D II and the Sony A7 II or S. I forgot. Anyway, the 7D was so much more capable. It wasn't even close. I ended up manually focusing the Sony. The 7D II was the first camera I ever used where I could depend on the AF in video. It's obscene on how on the mark it was.
