Sound card or not

I bought a new mobod from gigabyte.
GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Audio ChipsetRealtek ALC889Audio Channels8 ChannelsI have a sound card already from HT Omega Claro 7.1 I venture to guess that the Omega is a better route than the onboard? Anyone care to comment?

If it was me, I'd go with the sound card. Those are pretty decent, and I'm sure the sound card will sound better than the built-in sound on the board.

If you are using the back connectors straight out of the mobo with speakers, use a soundcard. If you use headphones,and using the frontal case supplied headphone jack, just use the onboard sound.

If you are using headphones with the mobo connectors on the back, get a sound card Those sound awful especially with good headphones.

If you already have one, I see no reason not to use it.
