I've been having problems with the sound on my computer for the last few weeks. My current setup is as follows:
i5 2500k
16GB Ram
HT Omega Striker 7.1 sound card 7.12.8.1742 drivers
AsRock P67 Fatality mobo using the 6.0.1.6873 realtek audio drivers and the 7.69.304.2013 realtek LAN drivers
The original problem I was having was my sound was stuttering every few minutes. I seem to have solved this problem by updating my Striker drivers, but now I'm getting a really bad crackling noise anytime I'm listening to music. This problem occurs when I'm using winamp, vlc, windows media player or itunes. I have found one strange temporary solution, if I'm listening to music in winamp and I open vlc or windows media player and just let it sit there the crackling goes away, I'm not sure why that would happen but it's been a decent temporary solution.
While doing some reading about this problem I noticed that people were having a similar problem and that it was caused by the realtek LAN drivers. If I uninstall my LAN drivers the problem goes away but I can't access the internet. I've also been using a program called DPC Latency checker and have noticed that while listening to music with my LAN drivers installed I get a high level of latency, but with them uninstalled the latency is gone. Some people were saying this is caused by your sound card being on the same IRQ channel as your video card or LAN. After checking my IRQ settings it looks like my LAN drivers are on a different channel. I have attached a screenshot of my IRQ settings.
I'm really starting to get frustrated with this, I've updated, uninstalled and re-installed all my LAN & audio drivers. I have gone back to older drivers and nothing seems to help. I'm currently using the optical out on my sound card, I've tried 3 different optical cables and I've gone back to the old RCA cables I was using before and this problems persists. I'm hoping someone has some insight into this problem as I would really like to get this figured out.
