mhm, represent the holocaust, in a way, and at the end of the show Kyle asks' do you see any resemblance to something in history like this' ... because kyle is jewish, cartman was helping the cats, in essence the jews? cartman hates jews, like kyle.

The cheesing espisode was awesome.

It could have made it an epic classic if they picked much better songs though. They just picked songs that all had "heavy metal" in the lyrics. Ok we GET IT. Some better classic metal songs could have really made a huge difference.

BTW: All southpark episodes are avaliable online for free at http://www.southparkstudios.com the official site of southpark. Props to Matt and Trey for doing that. They're really good quality, but you have to watch commercials.

The song they used is the title track of the animated film Heavy Metal. Which is the film they took inspiration from in the trip sequences.

they also used Takin a Ride (Heavy Metal) in the B-17 Bomber scene (both in the movie and the SP episode)...

They didn't use the Mob Rules, Veteran of the Physic Wars, Working in a Coal Mine or even Open Arms (that would have been great in the fight between Kenny and Kyle's dad)...

I know I get the whole heavy metal thing. I was just saying they didn't have to push every bit of the movie and shove it in our face so hard. We get it and it was great but they had some room to choose better songs and still kept the parody. Or even just a couple of the other songs from the movie instead. Seems they just kept wanting to push 'heavy metal, heavy metal, heavy metal....did we remind you heavy metal?'. They really wanted to beat it in.

Meh. I really liked the AIDS episode, and the Britney one at least ended well- but this one was pretty mediocre all the way through. Usually episodes like this at least have some sort of clever message/social commentary, but this one was pretty uninspired. Hopefully this season will end better than it's begun.

You missed the whole Jew/cat thing?
And the whole drug aspect? Sure they could have done more with drugs, but they've done more with drugs before.

What's with Jews and cats?

yea i want to know as well

Add me to the list of the puzzled

All the cats were outlawed because the kids were using their urine to get high. After all of the cats/kittens (i.e., German Jews in 30's/40') were rounded up by the officers in black uniforms(Gestapo), Cartmans tells Kyle that he wouldn't understand anything about groups being rounded up by authorities to be perscuted/slaughtered.
Ahhh, I thought that wreaked of Anne Frank.

Was is Cartman telling his kitty, "Here, write a diary" that tipped you off?

I think this has pretty much been the worse season yet. The AIDS one was decent, at best. Britney one sucked, and this one wasn't much better. Maybe it'll pick up.

At the end, Kyle asks Cartman if these events reminded him of a historical event that happened in the past and Cartman said no...

but the whole Heavy Metal Thing was awesome...they did a great job in spoofing it, especially with Taarna...

Well, yeah- but it was obvious, trite, and not really funny. Wow, banning stuff is like the Holocaust, and zero-tolerance drug policies only make kids want to try them more. Real subtle and insightful. I'm just saying that I've come to expect funnier from these guys.

yet another 10/10. seasons 11 and 12 have been very strong, like the early days. i like the way gerald still had his cheesing setup under a tarp in the basement.

in this one episode, they rip:
idiot kids getting high from urine, feces, paint, etc
idiot school systems
idiot parents
knee-jerk laws
anne frank
elliot spitzer
and
heavy metal (with very faithful artwork, a pretty big departure)

matt and trey have signed on for 3 more years. hopefully they can maintain their form to the end.

it would have been nice if they could have worked in open arms, but journey probably refused. devo would have been cool, too.

Relax. If there's one thing I know how to do, it's fly when I'm stoned.

The Heavy Metal soundtrack should've included Through Being Cool. Woulda been better than Stevie Nicks and who the hell was Riggs anyway?

AND there was a picture of Hitler in the background of that scene. haha how people missed the holocaust references is beyond me, they laid it on pretty thick, especially between kyle/cartman at the end.

Hilarious episode.
