Seems more like Price gouging than an actual useful way to minimize use, which seems ill advised for peoples health. How many people are oblivious to this until the Bill shows up?

It depends. I’m on a 3 year all green plan at 11.7 cents/kWh. They can’t charge me more.

It’s really to influence commercial providers to turn on their generators and for commercial users paying market rates to turn stuff off.

There were some residential users who used a market rate provider and during th winter storm last year got hit with $10K+ bills.

Makes it better, but still seems ill suited to prevent these types of issues. A Public order would make more sense, like shutting down certain Industries/Heavy Users.

Also seems like Texas should connect to the other grids so they can import excess from elsewhere.

Because that's precisely what it is.

Most Texans are also paying a new monthly fee over the next 2-3 years for those jacked up February 2021 prices. We're basically paying for the weatherizing without the weatherizing so energy companies could get a huge windfall.

We here in Texas know what we are doing, thank you very much.

We are the envy of the nation.
Bullshit. In states with their shit together I wouldn’t have had to buy a whole home generator and gravity fed water filter to provide backup power and water because they can’t keep the grid and water up during the winter (or hurricanes).

They had 10 years to fix the damn grid and did Jack shit.

Been a pretty nice year weather wise in the NY Metro area, the first half of spring was cooler than usual but since then it's been glorious.

And you don't have to live in Texas. Another bonus

Yeah I remember rolling blackouts when it got to 19 degrees one morning in San Antonio in 2011. Ten years later five days of rolling blackouts when the temps got into the 20s. What a joke.

Been a little warm/dry in upstate, but overall not miserable yet. Still gets cool enough at night to warrant the heavy blankets!
