9 something in electricity yesterday, house was over 80 degrees, with AC on.

I admit the insulation is shit, work needs done on the ductwork too. but still.

OTW home today it actually said 78 degrees, and feels like 78 degrees according to WC app. Right now house Tstat says 82F in hallway.

It's up to 77º in my office, but since I'm just sitting here, it's relatively fine.

Well today San Antonio tied the record for most days of 100+ ever recorded in a month here with 27. As of right now our average high temperature this month has been 101.621 degrees, so far just edging out the current hottest month on record of August 2011 which had an average high of 101.516 degrees. If the sum of highs tomorrow plus Sunday is 200 or more then July 2022 goes down not only as the month with the most 100+ days in San Antonio history, but the month with the highest average temperature in San Antonio history also. Tomorrow and Sunday both forecast to be 100 to 101 so should be a nail biter. Also hit our 49th day of 100+ this year, putting us 10 away from the alltime record for a year here.

My office. With AC.

JFC I see 101 tomorrow, that's what we're forecast for in San Antonio. I know 100s are nuts but I see lots of 90s in your extended forecast too. Are 90's are pretty far from normal occurrences in Portland summers too?

Ugh I miss Westwood where mid 80s were considered a really hot day and I never even wanted an AC in my apartment. Still remember my first day at UCLA everyone was bitching about it being 85 and I was asking people if a cold front just blew in, not knowing LA was really cool on the westside and thinking it would be hot since it's right there in a desert. Did all this research on their math and CS programs and never bothered to check the climate lol. Had to buy a bunch of sweatshirts my first day of school since I had no idea temperatures dropped into the 60s after sunset.

This is atypical. A week of almost 100 has happened like 5 times in history. 4 of them have been in the last 20 years.

Or some stat very close to that.

Our weather has been pretty fucked. Extreme heat, wildly unpredictable rainfall, atmospheric river after atmospheric river, and just some really weird ass patterns.

Heat wise we may check boxes for air conditioning up here, but many houses just have a single window unit or a portable. It's not central air and can be brutal after 7 days of this shit without an evening cool down.

It's muggy and disgusting outside at 9pm.

Third day in a row, sitting in front of my box fan on low. It's 82 inside and 90 (down from 92) outside. The differential ends every night at 83 degrees about 7:30 pm. With fans blowing air in and out at night I can get it down to within 2 degrees above outside ambient which has been between 62 and 64 degrees at 5:30 am. Relief is supposed to come on Monday. I sure hope this isn't summer long pattern. The is PNW!

Wow you were hotter than us, we only got to 100 in San Antonio. Global warming is a bitch. 1998 was our hottest summer in 50 years but in the span of the last 25 years we have had a 1998 or worse summer basically 1 out of every 4 years. No way I'm going to stick around here for 2040 when maybe we'll start hitting 2022 level summers 1 out of every 4 years. Though if you guys are getting shit summers sounds like where the hell would I flee to by 2040 anyways haha. Canada?

I'm a PNW native, and I don't see this summer as particularly unusual. We've had a solid high 90s heat wave this week, but we usually get at least one of those this time of year. And my tomatoes and peppers need the heat (hoping for a bumper crop). While this year's spring was unusually cool and wet (my lawn is still green and I don't water it).
Now last year with that 115 degree heat wave, that was crazy out of the ordinary! Like never ever happened before out of the ordinary.

Still pretty reasonable in upstate NY, had a gorgeous day in the 70s yesterday but it's edging back up up in the 90s in a few. At least it actually cools down at night.

It's been a gradual shift to hotter and more frequent heat.

78 F and 9:30 am. Looks like we are headed for mid 90's. I can manage with opening up at night. It will still get above 80 inside no matter what I do. What sucks is this is going to stay for several days with the possibility of getting smoke from the Oak fire down in California. So I get to open up at night to choke on smoke. This is becoming a new norm. New kitchen, or AC?

What's the point of a new kitchen if you can't stabs the heat?

But that's what is happening. It's a slow shift of hotter and more frequent heat. Sure there have been 100 degree days in the past. And there have been many 90 degree days some summers. But it's incrementally moving away from 90. The 95 plus days are the new 90. 90 are the new 85. It's all just stacking up to hotter and hotter overall summers.

Austin has already hit 50 days of 100 this year. Very very tried of this heat, it really restricts what you can do.

Ugh I feel that too, like 105 is the new 100 in San Antonio.

We just hit day 50 in San Antonio yesterday too. Ugh usually I just avoid doing outdoor stuff from mid July to the end of August but this year we started hitting 100s in early May and I just have avoided doing anything outside other than swimming or going to the water park ever since then.

What's the record in Austin for days of 100+? 59 (set in 2009) is the record in SA. Had 57 in 2011 also. Actually have some 90s forecast at the end of next week so maybe we won't hit 80 days of 100+ though.

Well we finished July with 29/31 days of 100+, with our cool days being 97 on July 15th and 99 on July 27th. July 15th was also when we got one one hundredth of an inch, the only rain of the month measured at the San Antonio airport.

51st day of 100+ this year

Forecast 100 tomorrow, then 100+ all the way next week around Austin, with 106 on Wednesday.

There is supposed to be a small chance of rain next weekend. Gonna be muggy as hell during the tax free weekend.
