I love those, we get them so rarely, maybe every 2-3 years there will be a 1/2 decent one. In L.A. we used to get them occasionally. I have only experienced one GREAT TS, one summer in Montana when I was 14.Wow had a thunderstorm pop up and immediately drop us 20+ degrees and now it's in the mid 80s. Didn't rain much but felt amazing to go stand out in it.

Yeah that's fucked man, if you need recommendations upstate NY has been good. Though I get overheated if I'm outside and it's 75 without some air movement nowadays. This was a tiny shitty thunderstorm and we were back up to 103 two hours later, fuck me. Most rain in San Antonio comes in thunderstorms, I didn't even know you could have rain without thunder until I lived in LA. God I gotta go back, this ridiculous summer is driving me nuts. Never seen such a fucked up forecast in San Antonio. Even in the last ~10 years we still half the time don't have a single day of 105 in a year but we're at like 3 of them already with 3 more to come in the next 3 days and plenty more in August I'm sure. And no way some of those 101s don't become 105s. Highest temperature ever recorded in San Antonio is 111 and I can't imagine we don't beat that at some point before September is over.
Grew up mostly in L.A. Loved it when we'd get those all day steady rain storms. Seemed to happen around once a year. 1950's. Those weren't thunderstorms, just all day steady rain. It was like being in another world.

If only there was some technology that generated power typically at the same time the heat level is very high.

Not far from where I grew up, which was Cheviot Hills, midway between Century City and Culver City. So, weather pretty much the same as Westwood (home to UCLA, ya'll! Uh, it's a Big Ten school ya might have heard of... ).My memories of LA were basically a large part of February being all day drizzle. But I lived in Westwood. Probably different in other parts of town.

Great.

Well, look at it this way, the more people die, the less electricity will be required. Nature finds equilibrium.Abbott is going to get a bunch of Texans killed and not give a fuck, and voters won't either because he has the Magic R next to his name on the ballot.

If three million people in Texas died tomorrow from an entirely avoidable disaster the state government response would basically be "shit happens" and voters would mostly be like "yup". Expectations of the state to actually do anything about well anything really simply don't exist. It's practically nihilistic.
Whole lotta people are going to be learning about wet bulb temperature in the near future ...
