Just got back from Dallas, where afternoon temperatures over the last 3 days got as high as 107. I only had a quarter mile walk from my hotel to the front door of the conference center and it was unbearable.
Man that had to be a smelly conference. LOL

Just for some perspective: The longest river in Italy is drying up. Turns out that if the Winters don't get cold enough for it to snow, you don't have sufficient Snowpack to last much time at all, seeing how Summer has only begun.

This is our Life now. We should have some patience as people realize this and the actions needed commence.

Glaciers disappearing. Permafrost not so permanent. There's also such a thing as "bad rainfall" where I live. In the PNW snow pack is sort of the slow release water we need over the spring and summer to keep things running. Atmospheric rivers used to be a once a year kinda thing. Last few years it's been 2-5 a month over the winter months. Water is good. But high altitude warm water is not...it hits the mountains and melts the snow pack instead of creating more snow. That's no bueno.

But hey. Nothing to see here. Everything is fine.

While I still wish I had moved sooner, now I'm really glad I didn't wait any longer.

Fellow Midwest expatriate now living in the PNW... High five!

Aren't summers here an absolute gift? Minus that whole heat dome last year. That can fuck right off.

But generally, weather here is so much better than the chaos that is the Midwest.

When I was back there in May, I realized the only things I miss are fireflies and thunderstorms. Still absolutely worth it! I actually found myself missing winter because I like hiking through the forest when it's all shrouded in mist. But now I don't hate doing yardwork anymore during the summer because I'm not sweating my arse off.

At least your heat dome went away. Ours just keep sticking around. When they mosey a little east our temps drop into the low 100s and humidity falls, then they come back west and put us in the mid to upper 100s with disgusting humidity. But they don't go away for a long time here. We had one from mid May to late June that finally got broken by a one day cold front and now we have had a new one since July 1st. Ugh today will be five days in a row of humid ass 105+ when even in the last decade we still don't even hit 105 once half the years. We should be hitting 95 on average this time of year.

Speaking of glaciers disappearing, did you guys see this glacier disappear right in front of their very own eyes?

If that glacier was in Texas, it wouldn't have disappeared. It would have been "a forced relocation".

The water was sent back as part of the remain in river policy. Abbott dispatched the Texas Rangers to make sure it was put in it's rightful place.

78411 MW committed capacity as of 3:25PM
77919 MW demand as of 3:25PM

492MW difference. Just a little more than that piece of shit bitcoin farm in Rockdale, Tx uses.

483MW difference. That fucking bitcoin farm in Rockdale, Tx alone uses 400 MW.

I wonder what the maximum my natural gas provider could charge me per BTU to run my home generator if rolling blackouts start.

Fucking 103 with a dewpoint of 65 and we're a c**t hair from rolling blackouts starting
If you can get a battery powered fan, soaking your feet in cold water and misting yourself with a spray bottle can help to keep you cool while the power is out.

I'll either take my dog and jump in the pool or go to the hospital ten miles away and sit in the lobby.

Looks like reserves are coming up a bit at least so for now looks like we might have avoided blackouts. Fully expecting them in August when our heat is usually at its worst, though this is the worst five day period of heat I have ever seen out here.

The operating reserves show 2700MW but the load and available power lines have crossed so I don’t know what’s going on.

Edit. Nevermind. Webpage rendering issue.
