Yeah but its soyo, your going to need a debug card to debug the soyo debug card, and since its not on rebate they will probably mail you a bill asking for more money

There is a recent thread about cards with the same functionality, but working in both ISA and PCI (fingers on two edges of card) selling for $10 shipped (ebay store, buy it now, not just auction, but plenty for auction too).

Any good reviews on this card? I keep getting random reboots with my machine and got interested in this thing but I'd like to read some more on it before I spend the money.

i have another port 80 card that i bought directly from the soyo website. this one is cheaper ($25 vs $40) and has more functionality. for starters, it has more LEDs then the original and has a port 80 display on both sides of the card. more importantly, it has a ribbon with a third port 80 display. i have that one mounted on the front of my case so i can watch the codes pop up as the computer reboots.

to be honest, the manual is not that great, but i don't know if there are any better ones out there. if you check online, you may be able to find out more specific information about a specific POST code. but as far as port 80 cards themselves go, this is the best one yet.

btw, this will not help with random reboots of your system. this card is really best if you have a system that powers up but will not boot and hangs somewhere. when that happens, you start up your computer with this card and will give you a code where it stops. usually it will be something about your floppy drive, keyboard or memory. it is helpful but completely unnecessary 99.99% of the time. still looks badass =)

Not possible. If your computer can boot from a USB device, then it must already be working!

This card is made to debug serious low-level hardware issues, where your computer won't even boot. Is it the processor, memory, vid card, or something else? That is what this card is for. USB *CANNOT* give you that.

From what I understand, the way that this card works is that during the boot process, writes are made to a certain I/O port. Debug card sit in the PCI (or ISA) slot and just listen for writes to this address, and display the number. When the boot process fails, just look at the last number displayed. Look up that number in a table, and you know exactly where it failed.

I've used one of these cards for a while now at work. They come in handy quite often on a system that gets no post.

Definitely recommended as a part of any technician's tools.
