Spam Spam and more Spam

I just logged into my Hotmail account and I was blown away by the amount of Spam in my Inbox. But what's really funny is the sneaky subject headings the spammers use to fool you into opening the message.

Such sneaky subjects include:

"Well, hello there"
"Thanks, I got it!"
"Here's your request"
"Remember me?"
"Re: Your message"
"It's me again"
"Reminder"
"Here's that link you asked for"

Either way, I never open them. Just a mass delete.

Yes, I get massive amounts of spam in my Hotmail account also.

The Bulk Mail folder doesn't work either
I had 22 Spams in my Inbox and 12 in my Bulk Mail folder

I just checked my account 2 days ago

i am just wondering how do people get to know others account and start spamming. i have couple accounts in hotmail got spam and i quit using them.:|

No lie, companies use Bots to scan web pages, forums, newsgroups for email addresses. It's good to despam your email addy like this: grosso@TRASHonebox.com (Take out the TRASH to reply) If a bot picks up this email addy, I will never get it because the address doesn't exist unless you take out the TRASH.

Has anybody noticed that since the economy started going south, the volume of SPAM has dramatically increased? At least for me the "commercial" type SPAM has skyrocketed in my main account.

Some of my other accounts get a lot of the usual crap that Rudee listed above.

I still report these slimeballs if they're coming from a US server (don't waste your time, if it's overseas), and occasionally it actually works. Got this today:

Yeah, my emails have been hit a lot more than usual with Spam mail.

Not so much email spam, but I've had A LOT of people cold calling and stopping in unexpectably at my office trying to sell me IT services and stuff.

Cold caller: Would you have any use for technology assistance?

Me: We already have one. It's really quite nice!
