Spamlist explanation?

Greetings AT'ers,

My company's domain seems to be on a few spamlists. We primarily distribute research through e-mails to subscribers, but have more recently been automatically blocked by certain clients' spam-recognizing software.

We send our e-mails to less than 16 addresses at a given time (think that's the magic number to avoid being placed on a list?) when using individual e-mail addresses. Otherwise, we have an HTML e-mail form that sends "one e-mail" at a time to our subscribers in bulk.

Is there an appropriate method to remove myself from these lists and also avoid being placed on these lists in the future?

Thanks for any help.

It's different for each list. Find out what list you're on, and look for details on their website.

Also ensure your server is following all the proper RFCs. I noticed that a few domains I host ended up on a certain list (rfc.ignorant rbl I think) and it turned out it was a list that adds anyone who does not follow certain "rules" like having a abuse@ mailbox etc...

Some lists are more strict then others. Sorbs is probably one of the worse, as they charge to get unlisted.

Some other precautions that MIGHT help get your mail delivered (but it varies by mailserver):

1) Static IP address for mailserver
2) Reverse DNS listing for your IP address
3) Sender ID or SPF listing
4) Mail server's identification matches a listed Host Name
