first my setup:
DSL modem to Buffalo WHR-HP router (stock firmware) [0-4 wireless clients at any time)
---- >Buffalo WHR G54S (dd-wrt v23 SP2) in "client bridge" bridged to WHR-HP
-------> 2 towers wired(1 XP box, 1 Debian Etch box {w/ vnc4server/openssh server/nfs})
..............*sometimes* my laptop (ubuntu feisty), also wired to the bridge
I have zero issues when my laptop is wired in to the Buffallo w/ DD-WRT. ssh and vnc sessions work without a problem.
When i use the wireless on my laptop, the signal is good and i dont lose connection to the AP (the WHR-HP) but my ssh/vnc sessions *always* drop. they last anywhere from 5 seconds to *maybe* 5 minutes.
when I wire the laptop into the AP (whr-hp) i have the same issue
the whr-g54S (dd-wrt) is set up as a "client bridge" with the "assign WAN port to switch" option (i cant recall why i did it, since nothing goes into the WAN port, but meh) and uses static ip 192.168.1.2.
The debian box im losing connection to is static at 192.168.1.5 (though looking at /etc/networking/interfaces i have its gateway set to 192.168.1.2 ..... should it be x.x.x.1 instead? i never have problems *from* that box, just *to* it so i guess it doesnt matter)
all the wireless uses WPA - AES and the connection is fine on everything. im not losing the wireless connection at all *anywhere*
i dont know even know quite *what* to google to get started, or else id start there. just a point in the right direction would be appreciated if nothing else, id really like to get this working so i can ssh in from anywhere in the house.
