Also, the Jedi were spread thin during the "command 58" or whatever the hell it was, and each Jedi was by themselves. Since a single Jedi would be the general or commander of an entire battalion or army, and more than a few saw it coming. Yoda escaped and quite a few others that only the books ever talk about were around for a while, before Darth Vadar and his new apprentice went around systematically annihilating them one by one.

yeah, i agree that with preparation and after the acknowledgement that there was a Predator threat, the Jedis would be able to eventually take out Predator, or multiple predators.

But it's happened time and time again that big-ass critters have taken out Jedis that have had no "force-masking" to hide their awareness.

I think it's an issue of "the ave. Jedi" is not an easy match for "the ave Predator."

It's not like this is Jedi vs Terminator; which, of course, would be an easy win for the Jedi.

it was order 66. and yeah they were spread thin.

hell the books don't even have Vadar as the main one going out killing them. The 501st did a few and Vadars "hand" or something like that did.

Vadar did nothing but kill "the younglings."

this is why those films are a travesty.

LOL. Don't know where you get that logic, the Terminator killed Predator with his bare hands even when he wasn't the Terminator. The Terminator, as the actual Terminator would easily destroy Predator.

Predator gets way too much respect around these parts

Jedi >>>>>>> Terminator >> Predator

terminator never killed predator.

you're mistakenly comparing a one-man military special forces-trained commando Arnold (this is what it takes to kill a predator--bear in mind a predator that had already killed half a dozen identical commandos), to a robot Arnold that was killed by an untrained waitress.

robot arnold was killed by a waitress, whereas Predator--a seasoned hunter with adaptable skills--was killed only by an advanced combat human arnold.

anyway, there are plenty of average Jedis out there, as we have seen time and time again. They would easily destroy terminator--hello army of battle droids?--but the ave predator is obviously better than the ave Jedi.

Now, Obi Wan, Yoda, Mace Windo, Vadar, Palpatine, Qiu-Gon, Luke, and those Jedi? I'm pretty sure they would defeat Predator, and probably multiple predators. but those are like, 5% of the Jedi. The rest of the Jedi are basically the blue shirt ensign Ricky dude in the old Star Trek shows.

The Republic Commando series was one of the best EU Star Wars books out there. They totally changed the way I viewed the Jedi. I honestly don't view them as being truly good anymore. They sent living, thinking, feeling KIDS to their death without a second thought. I know the clones where "adults" but other then the combat training that was implanted/trained they knew nothing of the world.

It was a sad, sad day when they cancelled the series and what sucks even worse is that they didn't finish the story! I blame Lucas....

I've always loved the philosophy of Star Wars, but how come, when the Jedi face a complication they resort to the dark side?

Chronologically it started with Obi-Wan facing the death of Qui-Gon. Both Ol' Ben and Qui Gon faced Darth Maul, and couldn't overcome. It wasn't until Darth Maul killed Qui-Gon, that Obi was able to defeat him. Obi used his emotions and feelings of revenge, that he could beat one of the best Sith sword-masters.

In Episode III, Anakin only defeated Darth Dooku, when he gave into battle lust, with his defeat well in mind, that he cut his head.

Luke, in Episode V, used his emotions to survive against Darth Vader, and just escape.

In episode VI, during his battle with Darth Vader, Luke got the edge when he abandoned himself to his emotions, to the though of having his sister corrupted, and then he won.

Is the Jedi philosophy really apt? The Jedi have long relied on the dark side taking over, and their power lies in being a good person after that; sounds like SIth to me.

It is exactly what Yoda said when Luke asked.

Luke: IS the dark side stronger.
Yoda: (Pause) No, quicker, easier, more seductive.

In every case cited above there is a young, inexperienced Jedi facing a much stronger opponent, they pretty much have to use their dark feelings to triumph (or run away missing only one hand). It gets them onto a level that a more experienced Jedi could be years later.

The reason the Jedi insist on calm force use is that the dark side also amplifies and twists emotions, someone using it in this way could quite easily fall to the dark side. Anakin's transition to the dark side defies all other reason; he somewhat recently lost his mother but otherways had a good life which is not usually all it takes to drive someone to murdering children.
