So I was starting up my computer today, when suddenly instead of the WinXP loading screen I get a screen telling me that one of the windows system files is missing or corrupt. It also forwarded me to get to the setup screen by booting up my computer with the WinXP CD in. So I did, except when I try to repair via the recovery console, or try to re-install windows all together, I get a blue screen. It says "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. BAD_POOL_CALLER" I believe this is called a STOP screen?
I have no idea what to do, I really don't want to re-install windows or format my hard drive because I have information on there that I actually need, but it seems like even that's not an option because I keep running into this blue screen. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do? Thank you very much for your time and attention.
